Sadly, no you cannot. Also, if you are under 25, be wary at higher difficulties because the baddies are a lot tougher compared to the rest of Skyrim.
then I need some backup(Serana)....because all my characters have low level

Spoiler
You wake up with a voice in your head and as cheap (free) labor to building a monument for the bad guy.
That's definitely informative.

Well after you do a certain amount of quests for a certain mage he makes you part of House Telvanni, but tells you it wont mean much until he goes back to Morrowind.

This^ By the Divines I hope the "no werebears or spears?!" threads don't start up again when the PC/PS3 crowd gets Dragonborn.

It won't be a problem because of modders.

BTW, I hope Skyrim will get proper lore-friendly treatment at last, implementing Werebears running rampant in Skyrim and contractable lycanthropy and remove werewolves/keep them limited to Glenmoril ones.

Just checked that nobody else said it but - I'd make up a new character. A Dunmer should feel at home in Solstheim, at least in the Southern Ashlands. One that wears heavy armour, then you can try Bonemould instead of Steel and Heavy Chitin instead of Dwarven or what have you. There are also some pretty tough opponents in the DLC so you'll need to level up a bit, I'd say 25 - 30 before attempting it. You have a lot to look forward to.

You hope there won't be such threads, but you KNOW that there will be.

Let's see, advice...

1) Don't stand in one place for too long when fighting Karstaag.

2) The Werebears can and will maul you with little effort. Come prepared.

3) Don't jump in the water in Apocrypha. This even goes for Argonians. (though I despise you all for what you did to my people... on second thought, you may find a swim refreshing. )

4) Kill the Rieklings. Don't even talk to them. Just. Kill. Them. All.

Yup. That does it for me. :)

But is your soul ready?

Sithis will take care of that. Don't you worry.

Good luck with that. I've only ever seen them on Solstheim. I could be wrong though.

So far....yes. I have yet to see one on the mainland.

I found this out the hard way.

If you plan on having a Reikling follower DO NOT side with the humans. You'll be asked to help them take their mead hall back and you'll lose the chance if you agree. I ran into the humans first and just thought it was another quest and lost my chance.

Oh, I almost forgot.

The best advice you'll ever hear:

Never eat caviar out of a vending machine.

Nasty business that...

I have 'seen' some people say yes but am yet to experience it as yet. I have since starting/finishing dragonborn DLC ( not sure if I have finished the pendants quest but I've found 33) encountered all ranges of dragon ( im level 81), dragon/frost dragon through to Legendary but no serpentine dragons. In fact I have not even seen them RANDOMLY appearing on solstheim only at the dragon lair.

This, I honestly think they only spawn at that dragon lair and the ones you meet during the MQ.

Bring lots of fire resistant items when you venture about on the island. Bring nothing but fire resistant items if playing a vampire...jesus christ, everything burns.

Edit: Good luck taking on a certain hidden easter egg boss, in a certain "castle". Bloodmoon vets will know about him. Anywho, he will stomp your ass into a grease stain in seconds, even with all the new thingamahjigs and whatsits at your disposal.
