Dragonborn tips from Xbox 360 players to PCPS3 players

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 9:17 pm

Bring lots of fire resistant items when you venture about on the island. Bring nothing but fire resistant items if playing a vampire...jesus christ, everything burns.

Edit: Good luck taking on a certain hidden easter egg boss, in a certain "castle". Bloodmoon vets will know about him. Anywho, he will stomp your ass into a grease stain in seconds, even with all the new thingamahjigs and whatsits at your disposal.

Don't worry, I'm using the wonderfully balanced "Skyrim Redone" mod.

My Vampire Lord Assassin has loaded up on resist fire potions and I take 3 or 4 of them right before transforming.

End result = nigh unstoppable monster.

Tip 1,people who are werebears have no shirt and will attack you with there fists.so be on the look out.

2 bend willing dragons and then letting them go might not be such a good idea if you hate dragons.they will comeback and attack you! Start the process over again.

3. magic resistance is caped at 85% you probably already know this just making sure you don't make my mistake!

Thank you for the tips and answers, guys! Keep 'em coming!

I was trying to edit the OP so I could put all this useful info in but spent half an hour trying to get the forum to accept the post (even Google couldn't help).

be sure to make a stop over at horker island... have a look around :). oh dunno if its a tip or merely a glitch.. i used arniels shade in my fight against kaargstag... the shade used lightning attacks and the big ol' bully lost his frost aura, making the fight that much easier.

Go to Delvin Mallory, then go to the Smith and look at his name.

I keep hearing that this Ebony Warrior guy is going to be quite the challenge. I play a Jack of all trades, master of none character, so is there anything I should rely on when facing him? Level 81, mind you.

I haven't fought him yet, but he will Fus Ro Dah you when he can and you fight him on a mountain side. The only people I've seen say he's easy are the ones who used over-powered weapons or the x30 damage boost with sneak.

Oh, another one.
Be careful not to use Magic Absorption perks/abilities if you do Conjuration. But that also applies to Skyrim in general.

Also, if you use mainly fire for destruction, be prepared for the majority of the enemies to be resistant.

It definitely makes traversing the Island a bit faster.

Which is helpful considering that Shadowmere is apparently deathly afraid of boat rides and won't come with me...

Werewolf. You can buy some rings that improve your werewolf powers.

+ also a lot of enemies that use fire (bad for vamps).
I agree with this statement, I went there as a Vamp and died very quickly, also note that the enemies are a bit more challenging then the standurd Skyrim bandits, if you are currently under level 25 it may be good to get your level up first before going to the island

Mine the Geodes on Solstheim.

They're great for funding your adventuring career, plus spiders love them. ;)

The sleeping issue really is no big deal!

It's not something that happens every time either. Not sure whys some people made a big deal about it. I say sleep away.
Also, touching "the stones" is not a very big issue either. In fact, for Morrowind fans, you get to meet an old friend. So in that way it may actually be encouraged.

This^ I think it'll only happen once anyways.

Have a lot of extra room on you person. There are a lot of new items and armor. There is no place to store them until a certain quest opens up a certain house. And even then, there have been reported glitches. The mannequins are trouble. Also, rieklings are annoying if you side with them. Three or so will occasionally show up at battle sights or even the entrances of dungeons. I didn't notice them until after the fights were over. They are of no help if you kill quickly.

Do every mission in Raven Rock you can find before you trek too far into the island. You will eventually unlock a safe place to store gear, which is almost a necessity in DB, considering all the awesome loot you find.

This^ The rewards from the Raven Rock quests will definitely help you throughout Solstheim.

Yeah, I learned that the hard way because I'm a spellsword and my main form of destruction is.....um....FIRE.
