Dragonborn Trailer!

Post » Tue Nov 06, 2012 9:14 am

I don't know anything about HM's realm as I haven't read any of the speculation threads. Creepy tentacle face being some new enemy from HM's realm seems much more likely to me than corprus stuff. Lorewise anyway.

The DLC looks interesting. I don't particularly care that it takes place on Solsthiem since I never played Bloodmoon so don't have the nolstalgia but The story line looked interesting to me and dragon riding should be a new fun way to get around quickly. Seems like a reason to use less map travel.

I was about to post the same. You mean at 1:05 - 1:06 right? the goblin behind the mounted goblin seems to be throwing a spear at you.

At first, watching on my phone, I thought I saw the dragonborn player character using a spear. :(

Only Rieklings. I'd be disappointed if they only gave spears to the munchkins.

Yep, If you look closely, the creature at 1:00 has OCTOPUS TENTACLES. Cephalopod is a name for the class of invertebrates that include Octopuses, so I am almost positive that it is NOT an ascended sleeper.

As stated, it is probably the creature whose head forms the 'Telvanni Cephalopod Helm' in Morrowind. Search it in UESP, as I can't post a good link to the image.

I've had enough - honestly. Bethesda, you screw over PS3 and you abandon us PC players - who made this series popular mind you - and cater to the XBOX fans. Show some respect - and stop money grabbing

After seeing it, I'm actually inclined to agree.

So far, we've seem Corprus-like creatures in what looks to be Herma-Mora's realm, and the Telvanni are avid collectors of knowledge with fee inhibitions of morals and ethics. I feel as if the Telvanni will have a very pivotol role in the coming DLC. I only wonder who the 'first dragonborn' is, now. Perhaps someone also affiliated with the Telvanni?

The floating tentacle thing could be a new Daedra species native to Apocrypha. It's not like we have much information on the plane yet anyway.

For my own observations:

Did anyone notice the boat sailing in 1st person at the very beginning of the trailer? Sort of looks like we might be able to sail boats?

Also, the dunmer architecture. If my mind serves me right, there wasn't really any of it in Solstheim. It was all in Morrowind. Not to mention, there weren't any mushroom-trees in Solstheim either. Now, the island of Vvardenfell was destroyed by the eruption of Red Mountain. So that possibility is kind of out I think. I don't think they would open the entire mainland of Morrowind or even a sliver. Now, I remember the islands north of Morrowind, which may be a descent possibility.

Also, did anyone notice somebody riding a big warthog-like creature? And, looking at it a second time, I realized they were wielding spears. Interesting.

Yeah at first I thought it was the mounted goblin because it made a gesture and I was like he still has a spear in his hand lol, but then I looked closely and saw the goblin behind him. I love the whole tribal vibe that they have, reminds me of those creatures in the mummy 2 movie. BTW they did a really good job on the boar, much better then Oblivions or the ones in mods.

thats what i was thinking, but as i mentioned before, does that book you find on the pride of tel vos state that Brand Shei is the last living legacy of the Telvanni? If thats the case, then there are no telvanni left, and they just left behind their tower/buildings. I really hope they have telvanni because they were my favourite greathouse.
Also if there was telvanni still around, you'd think they'd still have slave markets and stuff? So maybe we'll be seeing slaves again in the DLC?

Maybe, I like the boat observation, you would think that ba t sailing is a simple mechanic and could easily be added, but lets cross our fingers lol.

Though it is true there was no dunmer architecture on solthsiem in morrowind there is now.

In TES Lore it says that when red mountain erupted, and the argonians attacked morrowind, the dark elves were forced to flee to solthsiem, where they mainly live now. If that were the case, then in 200 years was ample time for them to grow telvanni houses and build skar crab style houses as well.
(in morrowind towns like Balmora and Seyda Need have only been around for like 15 years max. Vvardenfell didnt have any major settlements until around 3E 412 or something like that - because up until then all of vvardenfell district was holy land that belonged to the temple - and Morrowind takes place in 3E 427. so theres more then enough time to build full towns in 200 years)

Also what you saw riding a warthog thing is called a Reikling. They were enemies in the bloodmoon expansion that lived on solthsiem (and there was a book back then that claimed the reiklings were the remnants of the snow elves - which has now been proven to be false with skyrim) and they had lances in bloodmoon, so its cool how they gave them spears again.

I suspect players won't get to use spears because it should be a worthy feature but yet they never showed the player using a spear, rather they showed new swords, maces and axes...hope I'm wrong though.

They just released a trailer guys. Check out BethesdaSoftworks youtube channel.

Edit for proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=TRmdXDH9b1s

Edit 2: 1600 MSP, with a December 4th release date.

There isn't any mention of PS3/PC, which surprises me. Wasn't Hearthfire supposed to be the last Xbox exclusive release?

Nope, there wasn't. Been 200 years though, and exploding volcano kinda makes for an unpleasant neihgbour, so the Dunmer fled. So far looks like theres Redorands and Telvanni in Solstheim. Weren't the giant mushrooms all over Vvardenfell because of some Telvanni testing and general fascination with giant mushrooms? I seem to remember something along those lines from the lor.

Yep, If you look closely, the creature at 1:00 has OCTOPUS TENTACLES. Cephalopod is a name for the class of invertebrates that include Octopuses, so I am almost positive that it is NOT an ascended sleeper.

It's got hands, though. Octopus tentacles could be just an updated design choice. But anyways, I agree. Lorewise it wouldn't make much sense for there to be Sleepers around.

EDIT: Anyone else notice that Mr Tentacle Face seems to be hanging in a room whose walls consists of a lot of books? Isn't HM's realm an endless library?
