Dragonplate Armor - Wow, that is some ugly [expletive delete

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 11:37 pm

I don't mind the Dragonscale armor, seems fitting for the Dragonborn to get some use out of all the dead dragons. I don't really like the look of the Dragonplate, but I rarely play a character that wears heavy armor anyway. My current character and Erik the Slayer (her follower for the last 30+ levels) are both wearing dragonscale and it looks okay.

Honestly, seems a bit like learning a race's language, then killing one of them, making a skin-suit out of them to wear, and running around in it. Bit gruesome, honestly.

The dragon armour looks ridiculous on male characters, but it looks ok on females. Theres something weird going on with the chest plate in the male version. (nothing to do with boobs :nono: -its the neckline and how its all big, and clunky.) Thats my opinion, anyway.
OK, I took Mjoll with me on the 1st official Stormcloak quest and I equipped her with Dragonplate - it looks a little better on her. The neckline is a V-neck and the body piece is shaped a bit like a bodice (a little to do with the boobs ) so it looks a little better, but, it's still pretty heinous looking. :P

Then you're really not gonna' like the fact that the first time I wore it was when I went to see Paarthanax.

All this being said, I wouldn't mind seeing a perk to craft a Thalmor-Skin variant of the Forsworn armor. :nono:

Well, he turned against them so maybe he didn't mind. I did get a feeling of disapproval though - a little attitude when he showed me how to meditate. :P

He never says, one way or the other.

I like the Dragonscale armor, but then I always play Argonians and it goes well with their scaled skin. The Dragonbone is a bit clunky, but I do have characters that will use it. I also like Glass Armor, although at times it feels a bit too ornate. Steel Plate and Ebony look the most like actual armors, although I usually don't use them because I tend to prefer the more 'fantastic' types.

The last game that I played that let you dye armors charged you to get access to black dye that was already on the disc. No thank you, don't give Bethesda any ideas.

Trying to compare Bethesda with Lionhead Studios is like comparing apples and oranges. Sides even IF an idea is not mentioned on these forums, its still out there just by simply looking at the game.

Yeah, I'm sure Bethesda is quite aware of the Fable series. :P

I much preferred the look of Daedric. And I was quite pleased when I discovered that Daedric had better defensive stats.

Apparently so. I thought it started with 3, but they kept referring to my mother the queen so I had to Google it.

Oddly enough I loved most if not all of the low tier armors in Skyrim but I dislike the appearance of the high level ones. The only exception is the ebony mail (the daedric artifact) werer not for that silly graphical effect which I promptly disabled with a mod.

I reckon it looks epic in an archaic way.

It's the heavy version of Forsworn Armor.

Idk I think that Elven looks worse than it did in Oblivion, but its not too bad, although the helmet is kind of ugly. Iron and steel both got improvements from all the games, and Daedric looks kinda ugly.... lol sorry. Personally, I like Ebony, Blades and the Unique Items like Nightingale, Ebony Mail and....lol damn forgot what the other was.. anyway Skyrim's armors have their ups and downs but not ALL of the armor is ugly. Dwarven looks good too btw. Dragon isn't too....bad... I think lol...

Yes, the NG looks great!
I l Ike ebony the best plus the swords are more Katana style

I wish they had BLACK light armor.
A set of elven in black would be cool.
Seriously, dunmer are elves also and I just can't take a dunmer seriously in that elven stuff.
Fine for those metro-sixual altmers ! And maybe a city dwelling cat owning bosmer!
But really? The other two elven races should have their own version of the stuff!

Probably the best looking is wolf though. I think the whole ensemble is well thought out.
It looks better then steel and is not quite so fantasy looking. Seems to fit the Nordic Style better then steel.
It is pretty light and hits the armor cap easy.

If I remember correctly, in Morrowind you could combine armor + robes (like placing the armor under the robes). I wish that we could still do that. I'd use the hooded black robes, a circlet, and the elven armor underneath.

I miss this so much...

*sniff*

I don't see why they wouldn't let you wear robes and whatnot over armor. It's easily possible to do it in the real world, infact Police do it all of the time.

Maybe in a DLC?

:D

Yep, you could have a total of 14 items equipped, not counting weapons/shields. Shirt, pants, boots, greaves, left anr right gauntlet/bracer/whatever, left and right pauldron, cuirass, helmet, robe, amulet and two rings. I miss that.

I agree with majority here. Even tho I don't hate the dragon armor aesthetic wise (yet, haven't seen it equipped other than gloves I found, which I don't find ugly tbh), it's utterly silly to have a requirement of 100 for an armor that is weaker than that of smithing requirement being 10 less. Not to mention that you can also buy resources for daedric while you have to kill dragons yourself, where on master difficulty one could potentially have a whole set of full daedric set way before he could face a dragon without any tricks such as archery, running and excesive usage of poisons and potions.

I know, right? That's how knights would distinguish themselves from the various Lords they served.

Whoa. I'd settle for 2 rings and separating the legs from the body (as long the weight didn't go up), but I might start getting annoyed by 14 articles of 'clothing'.

Yeah, it looks more natural for them than the Orcish armor.

Nah, you don't have to wear it. Most of the time I'd only wear pants or shirt if there was a visible piece of body bellow the armor, other than that no. Hardly anyone uses all 14 I think, but it gives a far bigger role-playing appeal, since you can wear a full set of heavy armor and cover it up with a robe, for example. Granted, wearing clothes only was also much more viable with Unarmored skill around, which is one of the thing one of my characters has a problem with on master in Skyrim.

Yeah, I would have to. I feel compelled. For example, in many games I run female characters because I can dress them up in pretty/$lutty outfits (ie Saint's Row) and take waayyy too much time mixing and matching the clothing items. Even in Warhammer I would keep certain low level armors for my Witch Elf that may have look sixier than higher level stuff and in Perfect World I bought certain clothes and hairstyles for my female characters to wear when not fighting.

Well, can't blame a man for that. I do like to look good in my games too. In my case imposing/fitting the role, but nevertheless, almost the same thing. :P

I really miss some of the great armours that Morrowind plus it's expansions had.

I know they were meant to reflect the Morrowind setting but I don't think it would have been unreasonable for some of Skyrim's armours to be based on the ones in Morrowind.

Nothing to say Skyrim's armourers couldn't have seen some of the armours from that part of Tamriel and made sets inspired by those styles.
