DUNMER CHILDREN!

Post » Tue Feb 12, 2013 11:30 pm

Its not that simple... its the way the entire esm and master file system is build up, if you have ever worked with mods and attempted to merge two master files then you would understand

I have. The Devs also have more tools. It is known. :P

If DLCs are such a closed world, why can I make Dawnguard characters Hearthfire stewards?

Simple trick.
Dawnguard NPC uses follower system of core game.
Heathfire does not check NPC ID. It checks follower yes / no.
The voice acting of hearthfire also checks the core voice settings.

But the adoption system is not part of the main game.

But the HF steward system is no part of the main game, too?
Sorry, actually I have no idea about modding, but the adoption and the steward function are in my eyes very similar.

I sincerely hope there are Dunmer children! It wouldn't make sense if there weren't any children on Solstheim at all, since children now are implemented in the game. And I think mer children are terribly cute. :D (I would jump with joy if they implemented children of different ages as well, some toddlers and babies, but I don't count on it - maybe for TES VI.)

Whether they would be up for adoption... It would be great if they were, but I won't get my hopes up.

Steward system builds up on the follower system (which is part of the main game)

Really? The stewards do not follow you (until you tell them so). Their functions seem to be very unique, with unique dialogue only added in HF.
Again: I have no idea how it works. I am really asking questions here.

I hope there are. I would even like to see other races of children though they are less likely to be included.

On a similar note....

Why weren't there Dunmeri children in the Grey Quarter in the vanilla game?

Dev's being lazy.

The children are basically copy pasted from fallout. Even that redguard child looked like a nord.
They can't exactly copy paste a dumner from fallout.

But yeah,i just say lazyness.

Your title made me think there was confirmation of Dunmer children and therefor lead to my excitement hoping that there were Khajiit children... Thanks for that. >.>

Lol, my bad. Flip side is it got people to discuss in the thread.

Here's a simple solution. Just add a way to adopt in dragonborn. They could have a separate orphanage, and just add in new data that is completely separate from the data used to adopt kids in Skyrim. That way the two dlc's wont overlap.

But your new children would never be able to live in Hearthfire houses and you could have more than 2 (me gusta but i don't think that beth will do so.).

What are the chances of there being dunmer kids in Solstheim? For adoption too? It would make sense since it is a Dunmer settlement, and if they were gonna add it in a dlc (after hearthfire anyway) this would be it.

This thread is not for Beth bashing for not having beast and elven kids. So don't do it. Complaining is fine, just don't be rude about it.

Discuss
No chance, even if it was all Dunmer, the children would still be nords~

I really, really hope they add different races of children, but with Bethesdas track record.... Nah.....

If we can add pets and followers from Dawnguard, I see no technical reason that we couldn't let them live in our house. The only problem I see is having more than two kids as you said. But it is possible, and maybe they could find a workaround if that is the only issue.

Non-human children would be cool to see in general, not just Dunmer. Would further flesh out the game world and if they could get it to work, address the concerns of the people who want to be able to adopt non-human kids.

This workaround only works with followers. since follower system is part of the main game.
This pets use the follower system like all other non "Human" follower.

I suppose it'd be neat, as long as the kids aren't as obnoxious as some of the existing ones.

Just be glad your only choices for adoption aren't limited to just the kids from Little Lamplight from FO3. What a bunch of obnoxious arrogant bastards...

I'm holding out on adopting another child, hoping that they may add a little Khajiit.

Colonel, didn't you post once that you could do away with your Hearthfire family/house by uninstalling of something one time?

Don't wanna crush your dreams but.
TES and Fallout DLCs can not interact.
The adoption system of heathfire can not interact with new children of other DLCs. It would create loading errors.

Imagen someone wtih dragonborn DLC but without hearthfire.
Dragonborn loading new children -> loading hearthfire adoption system -> error not found.
The DB dlc takes place on an island. Could be if you don't have HF then children adopted must remain in a pre fab home on said island.

Hell, I'm fine with that, but only as long as they get someone else to do the voice for them...
Envision the voice of the current young male VA, coming out of a tiny Dunmer lad.
.....uuuughhhhhhhh.
Here, kid, smoke these cigarettes for a few months and maybe then your voice will sound right for a Dunmer...

This is why there shouldn't be Dunmer kids.
