Dwemer machine in dead guy's basemant? : V - Skyrim

In the quest to get keening you get that convection spell to heat up dwemer thingys. Ill try that, since I disenchanted the champions cudgel... and the dwarven blackbow of fate won't work. It does magicka/health/stamina damage instead of fire/frost.

Do we know for sure that he is dead? The ****** note could just be that he is wounded, maybe?

I think his body is down near a boat by the ocean. Unless I'm getting things mixed up with another named Nord.

I did but assumed it was part of an unfinished quest, as we said earlier. Who knows I hope i'm wrong

What about trying to find Hrodulf ?

Where did the letter say he went? Or is he behind the machine? The bloodstained letter said something about them both not being able to be 'on this ground', maybe like the Dwemer are no longer 'on this ground'?

Not wantng to take Fuji/Asgarr's thread....

But what are our options? I don't have the cudgel anymore... Not that I actually think it'll work. A spell? Thinking along the lines of Ariel(?) Gane's College of Winterhold's quest with the heating of the convectors. Neloth or that guy in Markarth would be handy here

I can't remember exactly what the note said, but it said something about 'both of them not being able to be on the same ground anymore'. I, or someone, will need to state what the letter/note said.

It's something about them being together on the ground, I think.

And I just tested Keening, the steam attack, and even summoning Arniel's shade and nothing. I don't have Champion's Cudgel, though.

I was close

So, what do we know about the situation at present? The bandits killed the guy in the basemant as stated by them when listening to their convo. How did they know it was there? Why is the note bloodstained? Why are the bandits interested in this area? ....

there is something to this machine and its not an unfinished quest..just have to figure it out. Beth wouldn't put notes around and a journal with a story and nothing to do with it...or would they..

Seems to me that he is implying that whatever is down below will take them both. Ashley did say that the map shows more room behind the machine.

Is there a Dwarven ruin nearby? I am not in-game at the moment so can't check, but if there is, maybe it connects to the machine in the basemant? Has anyone checked that out yet?
