Dwemer machine in dead guy's basemant?

Has any one figured this thing out yet? There has to be some sort of quest or secret about it, there is a whole journal with a back story about how he found it.

Maybe if you breath steam on it with that helmet it will do something. I'll try that in a minute when I start playing.

If all else fails, the PC community will be able to tell us via game files. I don't want to wait that long tho. :banghead:

Glad to see I was not the only one puzzled by that. I thought perhaps I would find out more about it later in one of the Dwarven ruins. I mean, his/her lover is there, but not the guy who dug that tunnel in the first place.

WHAT!?

I actually have no friggin' idea! It's driving me mad. And that's when I decided that's what it does! It's either a glorified oven, part of a future or unfinished quest, a device who's purpose is lost in time or as i'm sure, the biggest troll of all time. The amount of info given in the area, and the stories in the diaries would imply there is more to it though.

The general consensus amongst my friends is that it is either a WYSIWYG or an unfinished quest.

Most annoying isn't it. I'll hold onto that single shred of hope that we've all just missed something. I had the strangest case of deja vu when I found it. Something about using fire-based spells and steam. No idea where it came from, but it seemed all too familiar.

Yeah Beth likes to give you something to think about and then they let you in the dark. I remember how i searched every area in Skyrim that had a Pine Wood for a clue towards the Woodcutters Wife after i read both books (Woodcutters Wife & The Cabin in the Woods).

Interesting read... Tell it was fake from the start though. Is there even a control panel near the machine? I don't remember seeing one...

It was too good to be in a Beth DLC ;) I'll have to have a look myself tonight... I'll throw everything and anything at it till something happens. I have a feeling i'll be disappointed though. Shame we can't just ask Beth what, if anything, it does/is for.
