In Morrowind, it was the endless sea that prohibited you from going too far out. But if you wanted to, you actually
could. The map was indeed endless (as far as I know) and would expand as the player kept walking.
(EDIT: There was, of course, nothing there) Probably the same here by the way but since Skyrim isn't an island it's not really an option to do this.
Like what? And how is a mountain side any more 'immersive' than an invisible wall? Please make more sense next time.
Errr, since when is a mountainside NOT more immersive than an invisible wall? At least you would have a tangible reason that you could not continue in that direction, instead of bumping into a bit of solidified air.
