Exclusive XBox Skyrim DLC

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 6:44 am

I dont know how long this has been known but ive only just noticed, on the XBox live dashboard there is a tab that says "The first two game add-ons for TES V: Skyrim will be exclusive to Xbox 360 for 30 days"... now im an Xbox player but even i think thats slightly unfair on PS3 owners... PC's get mods, Xbox gets DLC 30 days early and PS3 get nothing to compensate?

how is it not unfair towards PC users aswell though? xD just because we get mods, doesn't mean we shouldnt get stuff the same time as everybody else. Anyway, yea it's actually really annoying to me, not that I can't wait 30 days, its more the idea of them keeping content from us, just to please the xbox people (or whoever they're trying to please)

That's what happens when Microsoft offer you a big fat cheque in exchange for a period of exclusivity on their console.

360 owners pay to play online, whereas I don't pay anything but my ISP bill. Micorsoft uses some of that income to get DLC early to their players, I don't personally have a problem with it.

Yes, gamesas has to be able to, you know, pay their employees. This is a way to bring in a little more income. I see nothing wrong with this. Plus, if the DLC comes out say, next month, who will REALLY be ready for it then?

Sure it's okay, I mean. Maybe not for PS3ers as they have nothing.

A very good point has just been made... PS3 users dont pay for online gaming... whereas Xbox users have to pay £40 a year, so technically PS3 users are getting the better end of the stick -.-

I think it's a terrible idea and shows a complete lack of respect to the players of this game on Bethesda's behalf.

Then stop paying for Xbox live. It's a rip off.

I was under the impression that Microsoft will say to developers, we'll give you X amount of money for a 30-day DLC exclusive and if you say no, we won't sell your DLC on our service.

Although, this information was gleaned from the internet, and as such, is most likely false. The trouble is that it's something I can see Microsoft doing.

Sony could have thrown around their money to see if they can get their exclusives, just Sony's priority isn't Skryim.
I think Sony prefers JRPGs :ninja:

It's funny, PS3 keeps passing over exclusives to the 360, (Metal Gear/ Dark Souls) yet Microsoft is still contempt on being a monopoly with these back door business practices. Maybe just make a better console to begin with and you won't have these problems..

Bethesda gets a bit of money from Microsoft to make their console a little more desirable.

thats business, microsoft is simply being competitive and they ahve always done this, from a devils advocate position if you want dlc first or exclusively you should be playing on 360 because MS is more willing than Sony to pull out all the stops for its fan base. For bethesda is essentially free money they would be dumb not to take it

Believe it or not most games are this way. Microsoft tends to negotiate better deals with the game developers than Sony.

All that means is that Xbox players get to beta test the DLC and catch all the bugs for us, so that when it comes around to the PC and PS3 players it's nice and stable.
