Eh, it's pretty much confirmation that the release date isn't going to slip at the last minute - for good or for ill ;).

At least it'll reassure some people, so it's a nice bit of news. Not exactly earth-shattering though, I agree.

Why would they ever do that? All of these steps of releasing a game happen in sequence, a sequence that is known and planned for. Only way it wouldn't "go gold" at the time they expected, would be if there was a massive problem. So, this fits with their planned release date.

(Also, when you have a massive advertising/distribution/marketing system, you don't just push a release date forward. They've been telling people Nov 10 for months now, retailers have their shipments scheduled, promotions & events like "midnight release" are scheduled, etc.)

...plus there's the part where they now have to manufacture all the discs, pack them up, and ship them.

Yeah. Gone gold? Whatever.

Oh, okay, so going gold is basically them telling us the release date is guaranteed? Well, that's cool.

So I guess it's downhill from here?

Since the press copies go out now I'll have to start searching Russian sites for leaked game play vids.

Errr, "have to"? Why, is someone going to threaten violence on you if you don't? :D

Me, I'm just hoping no-one is childish or inconsiderate (or downright malicious) enough to post spoilers on here. I may have to leave the forums alone for the time being...

Of course I have to. How else would I be able to warn others about them? ;)

I'm kinda curious why they are being so tight-lipped about the list of names the robot can say.

Just doesn't seem that important to not release it.

Because it will do more harm than good. If there's only one thousand names, that's one thousand of potentially hundreds of thousands if not millions that will be happy. The "I can't believe my name isn't in the game," group will be the majority. And it will be just another thing for people to complain about. While a tiny minority is happy. I don't care either way. I'd bet anything my name (Gagnon) is not in the game.

Might be that they don't want people to feel obligated to pick a name that Codsworth can say.

They probably won't ever release that list, officially. Someone will grab it from files in the game though. You'll probably see that week 1. I'm really shocked how many people are putting so much enphasis on that to be honest. One, probably poor companion saying your name and everyone is knife to throat about finding out those names. I'll be Mr. [censored]face because that's confirmed.

As far as being disappointed... while going gold may not be a huge announcement to fans, I am sure it is a HUGE accomplishment and great relief to developers. Mega-milestone for them... so for what it is worth- KUDOS to the design team.

If all versions are completed, why does Japan still have a 1 month delay for Fallout 4?

They should totally do that. Just early release it on Steam for those who have preordered FO4 and we will gladly bug test it for you to help provide the best possible experience for the rest on the official launch.

...it's the least we could do to show how much we appreciate all of Bethesda's hard work.

Well I'm glad they announced that FO4 has gone gold, but seeing as the potential for leaks might start skyrocketing rather soon, I'm going dark.

I'll be back after I complete the main storyline though. Hope everyone has a smooth launch, take care!

Neither consoles or PC have a complete release on media. And I trust the install files will be encrypted.

I am calling it now - there will be no pirated copies before November 10.

On that, you can quote me.
