While I am happy with this announcement. I'm curious, when they say "gone gold." Besides the fact that the game is finished, no more editing, coding, etc. Does it include, there "testers" have gone through the whole game. Found potential bugs, freezes, glitches, framerate issues, etc etc...Then fixed all that and then say its okay to ship out?
All they have done is said it is good enough to make disks from. Current build will be on distributed disks, or as much as they put on the media.
Anything fixed between now and 10 November will be in an expected Day Zero patch.
Thanks for this link. It gave me a lot of insight of what's going on Twitter. But I noticed that Mr. Hines is answering many questions but curiously he's avoiding the questions about how big the downloadable data is going to be. He keeps saying that not all the content is on the dvd(s). Why is he avoiding the questions? Is it hard to say, " You need to download 50%(or whatever) of the game via Steam". Also, he keeps saying how Beth has been using Steam for more than 10 years. Well, of course but this is the first freaking time they are doing this bullcrap about downloading some of the main content via Steam.
i bet is there is day zero patch and they still nailing down how big it will be also i expect a Pc HQ texture pack like skyrim last one weighted in at 4.4GB which was almost more than the base game.
With my weak internet speed, I don't mind downloading a 5 even a 7GB patch even if I have to bite my tongue from swearing. The Witcher 3 had big ass patches like these. But downloading a freaking 20+GB game like Metal Gear Solid 5 TPP, that's plain ridiculous for those who have slow internet.
i agree im with ya i just what said above is prob why he hasn't confrimed details
All aboard the Hype Train TOOT TOOT!! The best thing about this year, that apart from the trailers I haven't been listening to any of the pre-release jargon that I normally do! Im actually enjoying it, just reading little bits and pieces and thankful that Bethesda are pretty much keeping the Storyline a secret is great!
Can't wait, not long now guys and girls
Hardly matters though, once any info leaks it will be on every website dedicated to Fallout. Big thread titles like "Your spouse is dead! Shaun is alive!", stuff like that (I made this up lol). The real issue isn't right now though, it's a few days ahead of launch (from about the 5th of November) when people start getting their copies in the mail early. It happens more and more frequently. Ahead of the GTA V launch on PS3/360 so many people already had their copy that major plotlines were more or less common knowledge before the game was even officially released. Just two months ago I got MGS V about five days early because for some reason my local game store had one single copy on the shelves so far ahead of the official launch.
Anyway, what I mean to say is that through all kinds of means people are getting games earlier and earlier nowadays. If you don't want to be spoiled you really ought to avoid websites dedicated to Fallout 4 from about a week ahead of release. You're fine as long as you stick to the official Bethesda Twitter account, blog, things like that. But on forums and Reddit pages people go nuts with leaks and info from people with early access.
Yeah about that. Sorry for digging up the old thread lol! But at least we don't have very long to wait now until launch
PS: please call off your Dagon buddies, they're outside my door now and they don't look happy!
Lol, make that a double. Show me some more gameplay footage, mainly the secret Gamescom footage, then maybe I'll get excited.
It would be hilarious if they only made 27 versions. Imagine the chaos, lol. Still hearing that Fallout 4 is actually finished feels so surreal to think that this time last year I gave up.
Thank you, they just left.
*breathes sigh of relief
I'd imagine the Enclave to demand LOTS of black coffee and constant hours of FOX News.
I didn't found an appropriate topic to post this, so...
Fallout 4 is Now Fully Preloadable on Xbox One
A couple of days ago the Fallout 4 preload went live on Xbox One, well, sort of. It was actually just a placeholder that was a really small file that didn’t contain the game.
The good news is that the game is now available to preload properly. By that we mean you can download a very large file that’ll take hours upon hours upon hours.
Ah that's cool. I do not know why they so often do it a week or so in advance. It makes sense for the consoles, as they have certain policies, proving that it works, but on Steam or else it really does not do a lot but increase the hype immensly. I recall GTA V being available for pre-load a week prior to release on PC. That hype was real.
BTW, wouldn't pre-load on PC open the gates for piracy, as I guess most essential gamefiles are already installed? Though I guess, the retail versions are also most sources of leaks.
I bet the Forums are going to be empty once it comes out, everybody playing the game and all.
Except for me, ohh boy.
No, they can download it in full... and when the game is released, they can play it immediately.
At least you didn't reveal the part about scientists in Vault 111 hooking you up to a virtual-reality machine and interrogating you about your reasons for leaving the military.
If they can get most customers to download all the data files over a week in advance of launch, then on launch day their servers will take much less of a battering. Keeps server-farm and bandwith costs down as they can plan for a lower maximum capacity.
Preload on PC isn't that much of a problem. They can deliver all the really bulky data files (textures, meshes, sounds) in advance, but keep back the comparatively small executable and primary data file (for previous Elder Scrolls games and Fallout 3 this was the .ESM file that stored all the quest, dialogue, character and object-position data) until launch day.
