I guess some of these aren't really bands but whatever

Justice, Deadmau5, Daft Punk, Madeon, the Glitch Mob, Nero, Amon Tobin, Pendulum, Skrillex, Solar Fields, Chase and Status, Feed Me and assorted Ed Banger artists.

Not much of the music I like has vocals so I guess my favourite singer is probably someone like Anthony Kiedis of RHCP.

I recently been getting into (again) what I think is one of the most underrated rock bands: Wishbone Ash. Their album Argus is a guitar masterpiece front to back, and they have many other strong songs from other albums. But besides this current fancy, I enjoy most of the well-known prog-rock bands, like Genesis (up through Trick of the Tail, nothing after), Yes, Jethro Tull, Camel, and a lot of Pink Floyd. As for singers, I'm not sure I could name a better singer than Yes' Jon Anderson.

Nirvana (Favorite song, The Man Who Sold the World, even though they didn't write it)
Band of Horses
Soulsavers
Sublime
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Foo Fighters
MGMT
Linkin Park
Dispatch
Cage The Elephant
Bob Marley and the Wailers.
Pink Floyd
Rise Against

And I could keep going and going.

A lot of love for Rise Against...I approve :)

In no particular order (except the first three):

Paramore
Hoobastank
Linkin Park
Coheed and Cambria
Nightwish
Within Temptation
To Paint the Sky
The Pretty Reckless
Blink 182
Evanescence

Yeah, so I like my female-fronted Rock bands...and what? ;)

So many more, but those are my main ones. To anyone that codes, try listening to either Nightwish or Within Temptation whilst coding...it's incredible!

The Microphones
Joy Division
Black Flag
Descendents
Animal Collective
The Cramps
Andrew Jackson Jihad
Pink Floyd
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Dead Kennedys
The Velvet Underground
The Misfits
Reagan Youth
Swans
Slint

I will always have a special place in my heart for these bands, I love 'em!

As for favorite singer, I don't really like the conventional kind of singing so I never really had a favorite singer, but if I had to choose I'd say Michael Gira, Ian Curtis, Lou Reed, Glenn Danzig, Keith Morris, Milo Aukerman, Phil Elvrum, Jello Biafra, and Lux Interior.

Also just check out my last.fm in my signature, hit me up with some recommendations and such.

EDIT: Can't forget Slint.

I'm quite liking Fugazi and Godspeed you Black Emperor as well, so they'll probably join this list soon, too :P

The only 'modern' (Modern being Non-Big Band/Swing/Jazz) are:

Depeche Mode
Alkaline Trio

I used to like NIN, but their music sort of went south IMO
