I got up the throat of the world at level 10. After being 2 shotted by the Troll I fired my bow and retreated down the steps at top speed using alt sprint and stamina pots, then I circled round it (taking a hit) and alt sprinted back up the mountain. I got out of its aggro range just before getting to High Hrothgar.

I met my first troll at level 6. Ran past it using the same method.

I'm level 13 now and I get killed in 3 hits by trolls and thats wearing heavy armour. Using a heavily specialised 2-Hander I can barely scratch them. Only one I have managed to kill got bugged and stuck on a rock so I killed it with arrows.

Trolls are slow!
I had the one at the throat of the world kill me about five times (level 8) before I realized that if you run away and then hit it with a ranged attack as it caught up to you, then run past and do the same again, you can kill it at low levels. It takes a while but it is very satisfying.
I've killed about 5 of them this way at level 10 or so.

Snow trolls, bane of my existence! When I spot one, I stop dead in my tracks. Turn slowly, and fleeeeeeeeeeee!

Dragon screeching above, helloooooooooooo dragon!! Come down give me a hug you scaly adorable fire-breathing cutie.

I think gamesas needs to put the fire back into the dragon, and nerf the trolls. I want to fear the dragon, not the troll.
Agreed haha i only killed two frost trolls and i have to keep jumping around and hitting my sword at it. I cant just stand there and fight or ill die XD

I do the same as with everything
if it's cold, KILL IT WITH FIRE
if it's hot, KILL IT WITH ICE
if it's magical, KILL IT WITH LIGHTNING

doesn't always work out but frost trolls and the likes don't seem to be a problem
dragon priests and some of those special draughs or whatever on the other hand can kick my ass pretty bad
and there's this one guy called kvenel or something who's like my arch enemy or something XD
dragons haven't really posed much of a treath as of yet, killed 4 or 5 now I think

I had a dumb frost troll. I somehow got into a spot in the rocks where he wouldn't go and he just stood in front of me and let me pump him full of arrows and finish him off with a fire bolt. The ragdoll physics are still there...watched him roll down the hill. He took a lot of arrows though and I leveled up.

I have yet to survive a Frost Troll encounter but I've defeated many dragons.

ditto

I did kill a regular troll by trapping it in some water rapids and hacking away at it from a rock, however.

I actually don't have a problem with Frost Trolls, I just use a ton of flames and then a Breath of Fire shout, combined with some melee. Haven't died yet from one. I'll tell you what has given me more trouble than anything are the damn Falmer mages in the Sightless Pit. Holy crap those things svck.

Oh and the three brothers that you have to fight one after another when you are forging Gaulder's Amulet. That took me 3 tries and was a super long battle.

>Off topic< I've fought those brothers at level 13 and hardly put a dent in the first one. I'll go back in a few levels.

Apologise if im being an ass but in my encounters the frost trolls move quite slowly o.o i just had to pelt them with fireballs, and they died slowly.
WHAT I HATE is the sabretooth cats. Basically any animal that runs fast, and deals whooping damage (sabretooth grinded my mage to dust in a few hits, without shield spells etc)

Yeah they were pretty hard, but remember that they have a very strong weakness to fire.

For the Throat of the World frost troll, I equipped two flame spells in my hands, backpeddled and let the flames go for as long as I could. There was a pilgrim behind me who distracted the troll long enough, and I think she even said "You don't belong here!", most likely towards who she was fighting but it felt like it was directed towards me, telling me that I'm too weak to be up here! While she was fighting the troll, I burnt it alive. Too bad she died in the process...

I was traveling on the Throat of the World, enjoying the lovely snow and goats. Then, an ice troll jumoed down. I said "f***ing MONKEY" (lol). I got my assssss handed to me.
Damn troll is hunting my dreams. I haven't played since. lol
The troll and dragon on that climb are scripted. You face the troll long before you're the right level. However, you should have unlocked the fire breath shout when you took down the dragon shortly beforehand, and trolls are extremely weak to fire. They just put the troll in to make the climb more challenging and to force you to think about how to exploit an enemies weaknesses rather than just chopping away.

I happen to have a video showing how I deal with Trolls. They never gave me too much trouble but they did hurt if they get to you.

I'm glad someone else pointed this out, I also thought it was odd that dragons are manageable whereas frost trolls are insane!

Melee mobs are all easy for me. I run board and sword :D. Only thing that gives me problems are casters, cheap bastards, I usually switch over to Bow for them. :D

I guess one of the positive things about reading books in game.

In Whiterun, at the castle there int he Wizard's chamber, in his back=left room (coming in fromt he front) there's a couple of shelves with books on them.

One of these books is called Killing a troll , or something like that.

Basically it tells you that the KEY to killing trolls is fire. Fire spells, if you don't use those, then it says to use fire enchanted weapons. Fire basically cripples the Trolls self-healing (or so it says, I haven't encountered one yet), I hope this actually helps against them, would seem strange to put it in a book in Whiterun and then have it actually bear no weight.

If you read any of the books... They are very vulnerable to fire :)

I saw a frost troll kill a dragon nearly single handed ( I shot a couple of arrows but didn't do much), then it came after me and I only survived 'cause the dragon had taken it's health down a bit.

Reading these comments I feel very lucky that my Crusader is currently level 33 and don't have too worry about frost trolls unless they come in a pack.
