Just thought I'd drop this short off-screen in here: http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/30829

Right of the top it shows ironsights as well as what looks like an smg inspired by an American - 180, but with the stock removed: http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg62-e.htm

That seems like a fairly logical inclusion, since the real deal fires .22 rimfires, and that caliber is in game.

That and the fact that the 180 looks somewhat like an odd version of the Tommy Gun everyone wants so desperately.

That animation for that gun is very stiff.

Yeah it does, it looks half way between a Tommy gun, and a Lewis machinegun. It may only fire .22's, but there's between 180, to 400 rounds a drum (custom), and they fire up to 1500 rounds a minute. That's 25 a second, for those without a calculator handy.

Small bullet or not, that's badass.

Despite it not actually being a Tommy Gun, the look and what I've seen from the iron sights it looks pretty cool. Like a badass labeler.

the way he held the gun and how quick the transition between hip firing and iron sites was disturbing to me. Didn't look good at all. Besides those things, everything else looked good.

I have to say, I'm impressed with the size of New Vegas (city) I was worried it'd look small, looks decent sized from that clip.

Beneath the video it says that the player was in a different city called Freeside. I don't know if New Vegas & The Strip are synonymous, but it definitely wasn't The Strip.

Actually freeside is not a different city. Its part of the New Vegas slums, you can see Lucky 38 in that clip in the back also.

Grrr... That horrible pistol animation is still there... I hope they change it before it's released.

And that SMG can't be finished. The player even holds it weirdly.

Still, for an outskirt town it's pretty damn big. Bigger than most Fallout 3 settlements I think. Or at least it looks it.

It somehow looked too quick, to me at least, how the gun was pulled to the shoulder for ironsight aiming. That might be because of high skill and/or strength, but we don't know that. I hope it isn't a default setting.

:nerd: WELCOME TO THE FALLOUT FORUMS!!!! :nerd:

Anywho, I hope Freeside is only a small portion of New Vegas. Its starting to look like it'd be amazing to explore xD

Yeah, it was kinda rigid and snappy, but I'll get used to it fast. The only other game I've really played with ironsights was Borderlands, and supposedly those were notoriously bad.

I know it's minor, but I actually agree with you. It looked pretty awkward and unreal. And when he went into the iron sights, it kind of just zoomed into it at a gazillion miles per hour.

Though, it doesn't really bother me at all. At least we have iron sights. :D

I don't see why ironsights is such a big deal to be honest, I've never had a problem with aim in Fallout 3, maybe thats just me

Maybe they're more accurate and I guess it 'feels' more realistic.

I'm not complaining, I'm just saying the aim in Fallout 3 doesnt have issues for me, maybe the others are just bad shots.

You use VATS?
For me the combat felt very clunky in fallout 3, it didn't feel as smooth as in other shooters.
Does not have to do with health bars or unrealistic damage, just that the aim was very stale.
Wait, you use computer or 360/ps3?
I use 360.
Might be why it felt alright for you and not for me.
I can on the other hand play L4D or BFBC perfectly fine on the 360. :S
