First day of Quake Con

I'm not complaining, I'm just saying the aim in Fallout 3 doesnt have issues for me, maybe the others are just bad shots.

I never accused you of complaining, my good man.

But yeah, you're right in that there wasn't really anything wrong with Fallout 3's aiming system, but a lot of people wanted iron sights and I guess it was simple enough for Obsidian to implement.. so why not, I guess. :)

@Dan -- that's because it's not really a shooter by definition, so I guess Bethesda didn't see it as the most important thing. But don't worry, I see where you're coming from. I doubt you'll have a problem with NV's shooting mechanics.

You use VATS?
For me the combat felt very clunky in fallout 3, it didn't feel as smooth as in other shooters.
Does not have to do with health bars or unrealistic damage, just that the aim was very stale.

A little, but I prefered real time fire, the gun shots dont make me feel as vicious in a gunfight as vats, except the chinese pistol, which sounds godly in vats xD

@ Chriso-Oh no, I just mean it could be seen I was complaining, so I was explaining myself xD

You know what? I have something to complain about; Stop telling us about the FPS parts of the game. Some of us actually enjoy the game for the RPG parts left in it. I don't care that the game has twice as many weapons. I don't care about iron sights. I don't care about Michael Bayspl0zions. In fact, the only gameplay improvements that have interested me at all is the reputation system, traits being back, the way skill dialogue will be handled, and in all honesty the hardcoe mode. I don't want to see some 10 year old making heads go boom. I do enjoy FPSs but throw me us a freakin' bone here. When I think of playing an FPS, I shouldn't be able to consider Fallout.

I hope somebody at Quake Con has the mind to ask about, or explore, those parts. You hear this Obsidian? This is a rant! I am ranting! RAAAAAAAAGE.

This man speaks the truth! Obsidian, you know you're pre-order numbers are high, you know the game should do well. You've attracted new fans, now give the RPG fans something to chew on. :D

Well, that is the more marketable aspect of the game.
But these previews had a lot of meat from the RPG pov too, with all the multiple solutions, the inventiveness of the quests and the use of skills in dialogues, so I'm not too worried.

It is sad that they seem to focus more on only the strip (gambling) and the combat part of the game in videos.
But I guess it's not going to make people go "WOW I MUST HAVE THIS GAME" if they see an 8 long interview discussing SPECIAL, traits, perks, balance, reputation etc.
But come on Bethesda/Obsidian, could we get at least one video where we get to see dialogue and level up screen and stuff like that WITHOUT any combat in it and no omygoshlookatthestripagainfortheeleventhtime?

I know they're trying to hype the strip but I'm getting kinda tired of hearing almost only about it.

As am I Gabriel, sadly, there is not much we can do. *sighs* Oh well. I'm seriously hoping they will release us some NEW information. Alot of this 'new' info lately about in game things seem to be rehashed old data.

The controller is in the hands of the player. There's an entire city full of dialogue, communities, and quests around them. We can hardly be faulted if people choose to just start shooting up the first characters they come across.

Especially true since the controller was in the hands of a young teenager at the time.

I understand, and I'm not trying to come off as attacking you and the other members of the team or anything. I have pre-ordered this game, the CE no less. However, if you guys could, personally, reassure us that the RPG parts of this game will shine through I'll be very happy. Like I said, I have no problem with FPSs and I haven't seen much to make me doubt the game. It's just from what we know you're mostly focusing on appealing to that FPS crowd. We're out here, too :[

Honestly, Ex, deep roleplaying and good writing isn't something you can really convey in a simple video trailer. That's the sort of thing that only comes out when you've played hours and hours of the game... And nobody at QuakeCon had more than twenty minutes, right?

Yeah, you're right. Maybe I'm just being a tiny bit pick/greedy. I don't doubt the crews ability, it's just I haven't seen much signs of that kind of experience.

While I completely agree with what Josh said, I do think Expresate has a point too. The strong RPG side is not covered all that well since all the presentations and such have mostly been focusing on guns, shooting and combat in general (and gambling minigames) while everything else has gone with less attention. Personally I blame the gaming press for not asking/covering about them all that much. And you are of course right, good RPG aspects can't be comprehensively conveyed in a short video clip, but even a taster bit would be good through a "video dev diary" or if someone in the press took them selves by the neck and asked about them (the latter realy not being something Obs can affect, I think).

I'm almost at the point now, that I don't really want any new info... I want it to almost be a surprise. But like an addict, I can't help but check for updates every day.

It's been a loooooooooong 6 months, and it'll be even longer the next few.

I think a written article would explain it a lot easier.

I know what you mean, I already feel I've learnt too much about some of the characters and factions.
