I wouldn't even want to be able to see my legs and feet when looking down in 1st person, unless I could also see my arms and torso.

I NEED to see my feet to play. I simply CANNOT play without knowing that I have toenails. I had toenails at 8 weeks! I've become attached to them!

Meh, I don't mind either way. I'm not going to be looking at my feet when I play :P.

Kind of redundant to have the feet visible in 1st, when you can just use third person, no?
No.

It may seem like a silly request, but it can add quite a bit to the immersion factor if you enjoy first-person views.

Never really understood the attraction of this. The videos I've seen of games that have it always look kind of awkward.

And then there's the part where I've never thought "oh, I'm just a floating camera". I know that it's a full character, without seeing the feet. Why wouldn't it be?
(especially in games like TES, where you can pop over to 3rd person and see that you're all there. Or all the games with portals or mirrors, where you can see your character from a distance.)

I have full faith that Bethesda will make full use of true 1st person technology when it becomes available to the common man, and that game will truly break the bonds between game and experience.

I believe that some folks like to see their legs in fps because it gives a more intimate feeling(even if it looks fake to others) that you're roaming the world. 3rd person is kind of different in this respect because you're looking at your whole figure from a distance as if someone else is looking at it. You get a "separation" of self that you get when playing fp. I won't be surprise that in the next TES games there will be fp legs/torso, specially if many keep calling for it.

How about looking into a calm mountain lake, and not seeing a reflection?

The fact that people complain about petty nonsense like this is why we can't have nice things games.

That has been one of the Holy Grails in graphic technology. Not even the advanced Cryengine 3 is able to create that. Crysis 2 with DX11 is capable of displaying local reflections including seeing npc reflections moving in realtime BUT you can't see yourself( in fp) on a shiny surface for example.

Of all the things I could look at in Skyrim, the last thing would be my own feet.

I recently noticed you don't cast a shadow on a horse in Oblivion. Don't know why it took this many years to notice that.

Unfortunately, 3rd person seems to have taken priority throughout Skyrim's development.

It's good that they've improved that POV for people who like to play that way, but I can't help but feel as though they've neglected 1st person a bit.

Nope, you are pair of floating hands in TES5
It is one but many of things I expected

Few things that I expect from TES6-
1. no enclosed cities and no separate cells for small interiors (preferably no separated interior cells at all)
2. fast travel that have chance of being interrupted (just like in FO/FO2) by various events
3. full 1st person POV (visible body, all finishers, mounting horse, sitting down, being knocked down, etc.) without forced transition to 3rd person POV
4. bigger game world (like 4-5 times bigger)
5. spears, crossbows and thrown weapons, and dual shielding
6. various werecreatures (at least werwolves, werebears and wereboars)
7. practical various mounts (with mounted combat and customization- armor, cargo bags, etc.), like horses, donkeys, camels, and some other creatures that are used as mounts in Tamriel
8. other races of Tamriel (can be unplayable, but present in the game)
9. more attributes (I understand why some attributes were merged, but why Personality and Luck were totally removed is beyond my comprehension)
10. improved armor/clothes system from TES3 (instead of 2 rings- 8 rings, boots/shoes that aren't magically tied together, but to wear them you need both left and right version, capes/cloaks, etc.)

So yeah, most probably not going to happen :(

Instead of feet, they could make the PC have such a fat belly that there'd be no way to see their feet (or the ground for feet around the player). :) Aside from that, I have no idea why they don't make it so you can see your feet. Then we can try on different stylish footwear and stuff.

When I look down, I see my feet. Be a little disturbing if I couldn't.

I find it useless :ermm:

What purpose does looking at your feet serve?

Nothing interesting happens on the ground....imo

Also what about 3rd person view? It shows you everything.

By your logic we should skip them too because they have no functional purpose.
We could simply replace them with critical hits, right?
