Is this the same hot fix that was available last night or is it the new driver that was uploaded within the last hour or so?

This is the driver that was provided an hour or so ago. The game is incredibly lagging and freezes intermittently about every 2-3 seconds.

Still messing up, better than it was. But now it gets worse as you play and becomes unplayable after 10-20 minutes. This is NOT acceptable and I'm already tired of waiting to play, about to send in for a refund and but this game or my Xbox.

I can't open my Catalyst Control Center now!!!!

Run the Catalyst Installer, Uninstall everything, reboot (it will ask), then reinstall. Other dependencies include the .Net framework but Catalyst Control Center worked previously so that shouldn't be it.

I can confirm the same thing. Before this latest rage performance "fix", the game was running in a playable state. It had ugly textures, pop in, and a low frame rate. Now it has those things plus freezing every few seconds. What the hell did I just sit here waiting for this release for hours for?

I've got HD 4650. It's probably unsupported, but still hoping it will work, I've played Crysis 2 and Witcher 2 with this card and they worked great.
I've got the same card and using these new drivers I still only get about 1 frame per 5 seconds. :(

Are you sure you didn't install the almost identical but non-working patch? A lot of people are saying the latest one fixed all the problems, and are playing it.

At least when the extreme texture loading and flickering issue was happening I was getting around 60 FPS.
That driver fixed the flickering, mostly (took reloading my save twice, second time the flicker stopped).
But now I'm dipping down to 18 FPS.
Bravo AMD...

Waiting is right. I was up last night for the midnight release of the game, incredibly excited. Now, just a frustrated customer trying to stay on top of the latest inforamation concerning a fix.

The one I linked to before I put the official link in the first post were the ones that came out in the last hour. I did test them and they corrected all the issues for me. Unfortunately as we can see on the second page of this thread there are still corrections needed for people.

Still doesn't work. I got a very slight FPS boost, but the game freezes constantly now every 5-10 sec. Still getting really bad texture problems, fps issues, menu issues etc.

Specs:
e8400 3ghz
6850
8 gb ram
win7

Not the most amazing system but I can run most new games today at high or near max settings with very playable fps. I should be able to run Rage just fine.

Positive. Release date said October 4th. The notes stated this release had the proper OGL implementations that the original one lacked.

This, I also installed the drivers correctly and use driver sweeper. Rage is still unplayable.

Latest performance driver is no better than 11.8. Still runs like crap whenever the character moves or looks around slightly, and still massive popin practically everywhere.
Yes, I installed it properly.

6950 2GB
X3 720
4GB RAM

edit: After creating the folder %localappdata%/id software/rage, the game no longer runs choppy however pop-in is still terrible.

Yep, this is the one I downloaded.
  • I removed all previous Catalyst Drivers
  • Rebooted
  • Installed newest drivers as of roughly an hour ago
  • Rebooted
  • Game still intemrittently freezes

The AMD page that I downloaded the drivers from had this revision information.

Latest driver caused more issues than it fixed, on the last one I got outside the vault. This driver runs fine a nice 60fps or so, until I move the mouse at all, freezes for 5-7 seconds, then resumes a 60fps.

New drivers seemed to have reduced texture pop in and smoothed out the game experience, however I am stuck in the mutant bash TV quest.

To summarize:

Fresh install of new drivers (completely uninstalled anything catalyst related on comp) then install new drivers
Loaded game, noticed graphical glitches of weapons showing their ammo magazine floating above weapon and flickering.
Continue through Mutant Bash TV arena and some mutants are CRAZY FLICKERING and stuck in one animation while gliding towards me.
Finish arena get to podium game loads then becomes unresponsive at loading screen resulting force closing the game.

Rinse and repeat, I can re create the crash at the same location every time, and I now have new never before seen graphical issues after installing the drivers.

My specs:
Win 7 Pro 64 bit
Core i7 930
12 gig o ram
Radeon HD 5870

Uninstalled legacy drivers, installed new ones and I AM STILL HAVING HUGE PROBLEMS.

Artifacts and flickering are fixed. Screen tearing and texture pop-in are WORSE. Super low quality close-up textures still present. AKA Doom 64 quality.

STILL UNPLAYABLE.

Specs:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2 (quad core)
ATI HD 6850 1gb
8gb DDR3 1600
Brand new Barracuda 7200rpm 6gbs hard drive with 64mb cache
Updated to the LATEST ATI drivers (as per this thread)

VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED. If something isn't fixed with a patch soon I will be requesting a refund!!!

Worst game launch I've ever been involved in.

Ever.

Honestly I do not understand how this could have happened. This game has been in development for 6-7 YEARS! Did ID change a major component of the game's engine just before release and not tell AMD? Did AMD not care enough about its customers to work with ID and make sure the game would work properly on their hardware? Did they think this game wasn't mainstream enough to worry about driver support until they felt like getting around to it? What the hell HAPPENED?!

New updated drivers worked for me.
Everything is running like it should now. Very smooth frame rate, no more strange artifacts, barely any texture pop-in.
Make sure you follow the uninstall instructions.

Here is what CCC tells me about the software:

Driver Packaging Version 8.892.3-111003a-126338E-ATI
Catalyst Version 11.9
Provider ATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1186
2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000
Direct3D Version 7.14.10.0860
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.11298
AMD VISION Engine Control Center Version 2011.1003.1201.19668

AMD phenom 1090T
ATI 6850
8GB ram
120 GB SSD
Windows 7 ultimate

Running at 1080p, 8x AA, ~60fps

Good luck everyone. This really was a terrible launch. Sad.

Ok, just installed the updated drivers, and everything seems to be good now. This is on a G73jh notebook.

I do still get some texture pop-in on the sides of the screen, and some very distracting screen tearing which I hadn't noticed or didn't exist before this new driver. Is this normal for those of you who can play?

EDIT: Oh, and my framerate is very playable now.

I installed the "new" version of the AMD rage performance driver, and I am getting better fps, but still have rediculous immersion breaking pop in on every texture in the world (it seems to pop in slightly faster now, though), and now I'm getting a hard freeze every 15-20 seconds for 2-4 seconds. The freezing gets worse and more prevelent the longer I play.

My artificing and hud flicker are fixed, though.

Running
Phenom II x3 720
4 gb ddr 3 1600
AMD 5850 1 gb
win 7 hp x64
creative x-fi titanium fat pro
1080p
Steam is installed on my E: which has 60 gb of free space. My page file is on C:

I fooled around with the options in the CCC and didn't find any solution.

I'm giving id two weeks to release a patch that adresses these issues. If it takes longer than that I'll know that the developers never should have released the game, and probably won't ever buy another id game.
