Fixed AMD RAGE driver.

(Thank you Darth)

Fixed driver:

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=351811

IMPORTANT: if you are already running the defective Rage performance driver then do a custom install and manually select to reinstall the driver component. They have the same version number so Windows thinks they are the same when they are not.

I have downloaded, installed, and tested this one myself: it works.

The official announcement will no doubt be soon: these are directly off of AMD's file servers.

Edit:

There is still a bit of texture pop-in in Wellsprings but it is greatly improved. Outside in the Wasteland texture pop-in is amazingly improved. Flickering is now completely gone.

It shouldn't matter but my specs:

Intel Core i5 650 @ 3.2 Ghz (Dual-Core Hyperthreaded)
AMD Radeon 6870 1GB
8GB RAM
On-board audio
Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 with all Windows Updates applied.

EDIT:

I also recommend you read the thread he linked to! It's a good read.

wesome - now I can sleep at night, well knowing that my yet-to-be-received copy should work flawlessly :)

But I'd prefer if they put the driver up on the official http://www.amd.com/ website

Edit: Nevermind, I can see it's the same file as the one on their http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/GPU121AMDCatRagePerfDriver.aspx.

There is a bit of pop-in for the textures in Wellspring but it is still greatly improved. Outside in the Wasteland is amazingly improved. And no flickering at all. :flamethrower: nocharacter, I confirmed it. :foodndrink:

The AMD page says this is compatible with 6000 and 5000 family cards. Anyone try a 4000 series card? I have a 4870. Hope this will work for me.
Minimum requirement is a Radeon HD 4200, so they should be supporting my 4870... right?

Looks like the real deal. Glad everyone gave the game 0% on Metacritic because they couldn't wait a day for a fix to an external driver problem.

If you click on the "spoiler" it opens a list of what the driver supports. 4800 Series is in there so I would think you'd have a decent chance of it working! Good luck and please post back the results!

I've got HD 4650. It's probably unsupported, but still hoping it will work, I've played Crysis 2 and Witcher 2 with this card and they worked great.

I have a 5870, and it still doesn't work for me. Couple of frames *pause* couple of frames *pause* *pause* and it just gets worse until it looks frozen.

CatalystCreator answered my question:

"If you're playing Rage, you'll see good gains on the 4000 Series as well - link will be updated with that info as well"

Windows 7 and Windows Vista share the same drivers for ATi cards AFAIK.

I'm not at home so I can't check - does this also increase performance? Or does it only solve the texture pop-in?

Still not working for me. Just a black screen for a couple seconds followed by "Rage has stopped working." I'm way above the minimum requirements so that's not the issue.

Not fixed as far as I'm concerned.... The Main menu is more responsive, and it does feel like loading time is better when continuing campaign. However, the game stutters every 2 seconds or so, and reamains 'locked' up for 5 - 7 seconds. This game isn't playable in this condition.

I'm running on a

Core2Duo e6750 3.2gz
4GB RAM
HD 6870 1GB
Intel SSD
Windows 7 Sp1
Catalyst 11.9 'Rage Performance' Driver

Is this the same hot fix that was available last night or is it the new driver that was uploaded within the last hour or so?
