Future DLC Suggestions (Not Dawnguard) - Thread #5

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 8:51 am

Another feature I'd really like to see is an armor customization tool. I mean, I'd like to make my armor, well, MY ARMOR. I think it would be cool if in a DLC (or even an update), they added the ability to recolor your armor and add a custom emblem to it, kind of like with the Dawnguard heavy armor having it on the shoulder/pauldron, and Vampire and Vampire Royal armor having theirs on the right side of the chest.

On this topic, I've always wondered why Dwarven weapons are stronger than Orcish, but the armor is weaker. I mean, that always bugged me, because Orcish armor looks a LOT less effective than Dwarven does, and that's the only time when the better type of armor looks less effective. I mean, why make Dwarven weapons stronger, but armor weaker? It should be both stronger, or at least the other way around, since Orcs are thought of as strong warriors with top-grade weaponry.

Also, I think it would be cool if they added unique crossbows.

Orcish has always been medium armor, but since Bethesda decided to throw that away, somethings had to be mixed up and resulted in some strange situations.

s5134195, don't forget that the island its self is subject to the will of the Psijic monks so it could be constantly changing. From different seasons to completely different geography.

Great point!

Maybe throughout the course of the main story quest, the island could make sudden movements around Nirn.. Or even into daedric realms, changing (as you said) the surrounding geography and overall ambience of the place. Finally returning to Skyrim in order for the Dragonborn to depart. I like it.

I think it is key that the Psijic Order showed up to retrieve the Eye of Magnus. While I do not doubt the the range of the extreme magical power of the Altmeri mages to teleport between the island and Skyrim, I think them moving Artaeum in proximity to Skyrim during the transfer of the Eye is relatively believable, for convenience's sake. Also, they may desire the Dragonborn's aid in dealing with the meddling Thalmor, who have mysteriously been able to infiltrate the island's secure whereabouts. Now on Artaeum, they are becoming increasingly difficult to dislodge without arousing larger powers, and have become entrenched in a deeply political siege. The Dovahkiin has proved useful in securing the Eye against the Thalmor.. His/her services could be called upon again.

Also, I think an island is about the perfect size for an expansion/dlc. One region limited in size and one new city is what Shivering Isles had.

I would like to see a magic centered expansion that adds spell creation and more cloth type armors for mages.

Also I would like to see Wands and Staves get an overhaul to change how they function. Instead of spamming one spell i would like to see them increase the magnitude of Wizards spells and have them enchantable with any bonus that weapons can take now.

Also it would be nice to extend the Black Star quest to where the player can take up the mad wizards research and become a lich.

One other thing that would be cool would be destruction spells that cast temporary enchantments on your weapons. These would level up Destruction, but would benefit from Destruction skill (cost) and perks (power) and Enchanting skills and perks (power)

This way, you won't have a problem of "Oh crap, a Nordic Vampire! All of my weapons have frost enchantments!"

Exploding throwing stars and darts, maybe different weapon fighting styles too. Because the standard drunk peasant swinging a club style that everyone uses just does not seem like the best option. As you level your one handed or two handed up your fighting style should change from clunky to fluid. With experience comes technique.

* Double Ball Flail (Weapon class - Mace)

*Give the player a chance to rebuild Helgen. Building and improving the houses, transforming it into inns, shops and temples (Talos, Dibella, Mara, Akatosh...). Being able to Destroy the torture room and the Helgen Keep and build a new Jarl's Residence, decide if you want it to be either yours or not ...

*Help the Jarl of Winterhold to rebuild the town.

*A Faction composed only by werewolves.

I think it more of an Alteration skill tree would fit more to that. Good idea however, should have bean in the main game.

What about something involving the Thalmor/bugs in a jar/end of the world conspiracy?

A Nordic cult of Shor searches for the Heart of Lorkhan (Shor). The Thalmor try to stop them, and the Psijics try to take the Heart and safeguard it like they did with they Eye of Magnus.

Everything that was in the Gamejam. Werebears, Dragonmounts, flails, spears etc

A follower fort where we can send all of our followers to. Like the Lucky 38.

What's left of Orsinium to travel to. Rebuild it maybe?

A thieves guild dlc. Like going on big heists.

The ability to destroy the Thieves guild.

That's all i can think of right now.

I AGREE! How about a little of saving Elisif? The pretty little soon to be queen of Skyrim. Sound good? I think so. I also think the marriages could use some work.. you can't marry 90% of the good looking females in the game and even once you do, there's not much of a reason to have gotten married. I think it would be awesome if you could have children. The child could reach a certain age and begin to follow you on your adventures and battles. Anyone else agree?

And have a blackout six scene like Fable or...
Yeah, my mind's already in the gutter.

(Warning, some spoilers)
  • A War with the Thalmor: I'm sure Bethesda has something like this planned for the biggest and/or last DLC, but I'm just going to describe a possible story arc. The player begins his journey by traveling to the Hammerfell city of Sentinel, which has been a place of strife with the Thalmor since the Night of Green Fire and will likely be the place in Hammerfell where they carry the most influence. Fighting between the Crowns and Forbears there has reached an all time high. The city is nearly in ruins both from fighting and neglect as neither side wants to invest in repairs only to have it captured by the other. In order to prevent an Aldmeri invasion, the Dragonborn has to bring piece to this desert capital, one way or the other. He can side with the Crowns, Forbears, or the neutral Lhotunics and attempt to negotiate a truce. He will likely be the subject to assassination attempts by the both the Thalmor and anyone for whom the fighting has been profitable i.e. weapon mongers. You may also explore a dungeon or two while your there. However he brings piece to Sentinel, he must then travel to Valenwood (perhaps Falinesti) and try to stop the purges there. The local Wood Elves will likely be eager to help, but they will face strong resistance from the Imga, a race of apemen who have long since revered the High elves. After solving matters there, the player travels to Elsweyr where overthrowing the Thalmor will be harder. Many Khajiits practically worship the Thalmor after they claimed to have brought back the moons after the Void nights. In Elsweyr, the Dragonborn will have to discover the real reason for the moons disappearance and break the hold the Thalmor has there with the help of an underground resistance who never believed the Thalmor's lies. Finally is the Summerset Isles, the Thalmor's stronghold. Bethesda can handle this a number of ways. The Dragonborn could muster a fleet with either the Stormcloaks or the Empire and simply have a huge naval battle, followed by numerous land engagements until the reach the Capital of Alinor (my least favorite); they could have the player infiltrate the Thalmor and destroy their network through subterfuge; or they could have an alliance between the Stormcloaks and Empire whose combined efforts bring the Thalmor down (my favorite, but also the hardest to see happening).
  • Rebuild the Battlespire: It was originally a huge college located in a twilight world between Oblivion and Mundus that was destroyed by Mehrunes Dagon in 3E 399. Rebuilding it with the help of a group of mages. (could be the College of Winterhold, but could also be the Synods, Cabal, College of Whispers, or one of a hundred other groups of mages) After it's rebuilt (presumably after a number of quests), you must restore the Weir gate in order to be able to travel to all the Daedric realms (which some daedric princes might not be happy about.) From there Bethesda could go in a lot of directions: a daedric prince tries to take control of it like Mehrunes Dagon did centuries earlier, the head mage turns out to be evil and you must stop him, or one of a thousand other slightly cliched, plots.
  • Travel to the Isle of Artaeum: After you stop Ancano from controlling the Eye of Magnus in the College questline, the Psjiics take you to their Isle, which now exists in a pocket dimension of Oblivion. They tell you that they need your help to stop the Eye from destroying their home because you have a special connection with the Eye and you possess the Staff of Magnus, which they deem important. Once again, from here Bethesda could easily fabricate any number of plots. Whatever the plot, it reveals a number of mysteries about the creation of Nirn and the nature of Magnus and the divines.
  • Time travel, the Falmer, or both: I have two ideas about this; both of which are a little far fetched.
  • You use an Elder Scroll to travel back in time; either to the Dragon War or to when the Falmer are fighting the Nords. Here, you play a part in either of the battles, significantly effecting them in one way or another. When you travel back to the present, you either read about a mysterious warrior (you) playing a major part in the war. OR, and keep in mind this would be really hard to apply; if it was the Falmer/Nord war you actually changed the timeline and now the Snow elves never went extinct (or enslaved by the Dwemer). Like I said, that would be hard to implement, but it would be easier if instead of going extinct they just became extremely reclusive (that would work with either of these option i.e. when you travel back in time you either tell them to hide in the Forgotten Vale or some where else you know will be safe or they tell you where they will be hiding so when you go back you can find them). < Sorry that might have been a little hard to follow, just ask if you don't get it.
  • You embark on a quest to restore the Falmer to their previous state (sighted and intelligent) where you explore more Falmer and/or Dwemer ruins. It involve the eyes of the Falmer which you steal during the Thieves Guild quest.
Somethings I would like to see: More interconnectedness between DLCs. I know, I know, "but what if the player doesn't have all the DLCs? Then they would have gone through all that effort to construct a story for nothing." I understand that so I doubt that will happen, but imagine that instead of amassing a fleet to invade the Summerset Isles, you use the power of the Eye of Magnus to crush them, or you use your influence with the Battlespire to teleport your army through Oblivion and right inside the walls of Alinor. Wouldn't that just be amazing? Somethings more within the realm of possibility are much more materials to craft armor and weapons i.e. Stahlrim, Mithril, Silver; and much more customization of weapons and armor i.e. add gems to weapons, gold-trimmed armor and adding a crest to your shield.
Sorry for the long read

Guild Advancement.

Advance the storyline of each guild, and allow you to actually have a hand in leading them.

Honestly, I want to see some minor DLC in a future patch include a temple to Jyggalag and a quest to spread the influence of order and "ressurect" the lost Daedric prince. I'd really love to see how our Oblivion character's affected the world. He/she is technically still Sheogorath, so good ol Jyggy has to be out roaming around the Aether somewhere!

I think a good idea for the next DLC would be a prologue to skyrim where you fight in the great war, although this does prsent the problem of not playing as your own character so maybe what they could do is spark up a new war between the empire and the altmeri dominion and whoever side you choose will be the side that wins

If the next DLC is in fact named Hearthfire and it's focus is on magic, then I think it might have something to do with the Synod or The College of Whispers or maybe even Jashe, the Lorkan priestess and witch queen of Whiterun.

What do you mean? Itd be easy. After months of combat, when your goals have finally been secured, the other side makes a major last ditch effort -- unfortunately, the chaos overwhelms even your stronghold. As the fighting intensifies, someone -- maybe an enemy, a friend, or even just a hapless citizen...Hits you in the back of the head.

You black out. And when your eyes start to focus again: http://youtu.be/vsRA5BG3N8E?t=1m20s And you can barely even remember your name.

Why am I so awesome?
