gender changing mid-game

Post » Fri Apr 01, 2011 1:21 am

Well, maybe.

If you can only change once in-game.

Yes with some kind of limitation like that sure, maybe even have it where after you get it done everyone treats you like a freak and all that.

Correct but its more than just not wanting to use it, its the fact that it wouldnt fit. I mean the facial surguery was kind of out there considering that your face was altered in a room that looked like it had all kinds of things growing.

But I guess if it comes down to if you dont like it dont use it then I guess they should add in strip clubs with live nvde strippers then like some of those mods do. I mean after all if people are opposed to it then they dont have to go into the strip club in the first place. I mean if we are going to start adding all this stuff and use the excuse "you dont like it dont use it" then we got to add all kinds of stuff that people want then.

Well after going through it in my head I think it's best to leave out now, it's the same as "I want to be a ghoul/super mutant" thing.
They would have to create one hell of a lot more dialogue, maybe half as much more as it is now.
So I don't think it's possible.

But if dialogue wasn't a problem and they could have as much dialogue as they wanted then I would like to be able to change my six.

Yep. And hence I want to be able to have a propeller implanted to my head so I can fly, I also want some implants to my eyes so I can have an X-ray vision and see trough walls and peoples clothes (and possibly even to fire solar powered lasers from them), not to forget the rocket powered rollerskates to travel the wastes more quickly.

Who's this Edo?! Tell him/her to stop posting threads that make me think about gender politics!

I play games to escape from reality and avoid thinking about difficult social issues! :banghead:

STOP MAKING ME THINK!

Yeah I know this game is an alternate reality. But extending the depth of that alternate reality adds to the immersiveness of the game.

Don't want to compare Fallout with another game, but there weren't any problems in Fable 2 about it.

I was kidding :poke:

Actually, I completely agree with you that there's some bizarre double-standards out there as to what's acceptable in games/movies/art.

Your other thread got locked down and I don't blame the mods but it's interesting.

Gratuitous violence is generally kosher until it runs into these certain taboos. Like killing children for instance.

If you start to peel the onion, it says some very strange things about our society and discourse.

I used to laugh when mods on deathmatch servers would ban you for profanity "because of the children", even as these same kids spend 100s of hours blowing people's heads off and tea-bagging their neckholes. Plus those kids are more foul-mouthed than I could ever hope to be!

Open console, showracemenu, enjoy. :)

The gender-related speech is not really a problem, as there's a gender check looking for a variable which is set when the showracemenu is used.

And xbox-PS3 people, don't hate :)

Unfortunately, I gave up PC gaming since I can't afford to keep upgrading a gaming rig for high-end new games...

I don't hate the idea.. I would like to be able to cross dress. Why can't my female character wear a suit? Why can't my male character dress as a http://www.project610.com/files/Joker.jpg? I asked this before and I know why now. It would take alot of work to have the outfits (what's the word, rendered?) to fit both male and female. Seeing the amount of outfits in the game, that would be alot of work. Still I am hoping for some outfits like a suit for a woman and a female nurse outfit both six and wear.

Maybe theyll let me have that rainbow unicorn i wanted to be able to ride around, but they didnt let me have in Fallout 3? They let me have the pink PA, but not the unicorn! WHY?

Seriously though, gunna have to say no to this. "You dont have to use it" is not an excuse for bad game design.

Supposing it is in game and supposing it does have an impact on NPC relations, and supposing you actually did want to change genders... better do it on a NCR playthrough. They'll take anybody. I could see the CL gettin all Religious on your bum bum. :nono:

Edit:And those ARE dudes that wear skirts.

Really, what Religion would they follow? Fallout Does not have real world religions. I could see them taking anyone, as long as they are crazy buggers that like Slaving  :chaos: :gun:

In F3 you can change your face in Rivet City. How about changing your gender, too? It could be a successful surgery, or it might turn out to be some rush job. Is it in NV?

Why change mid game? It seems a bit pointless after choosing your gender at the start, they probably ask you if you want to finalise your choice at the start incase of accidental choice. Personally speaking I don't think they should offer six change in the game. Its pointless.

lol thats the thing. Its all [censored] up when you start to look at it. Parents [censored]ing because their kids are playing a game that has hokers/[censored]s/[censored]s in there where their running around having six and killing the [censored]s but yet the parents dont stop to think "maybe I shouldnt have bought my under 18 kid this mature 18+ rated game". Its the reason why I dont expect to see some of the things I would love to see in the game just for imersion.

I also have to laugh at the kids playing the online FPS games they are so funny telling other people to put down the deagle noob when they have these squeaky child voices. It just makes me laugh every time. I also liked when I used to have a server that people played on if any of those kids got on the game I instantly booted them with the message "game rated M for Mature - your underage".

I'm all for it. I actually thought you could do it in Fallout 3 when I heard about the surgeon guy and was disappointed you couldnt do it. It's just a preference kinda thing ya know.

I can't see why you'd have a problem with it in the game unless you were crazy against it in real life.

Uhh, no. Gender reassignment surgery is relatively common. (If difficult and time consuming)

Infact, you would be surprised how many stripers/hokers/pormstars are "Pre-ops" (Hormones, no surgery) or "Post-op" (Hormones + Surgery), especially in Vegas.

What would be the point? Why not just make a female or male character, to counter the already made character's gender, and just play them the same way you are with the opposite one. Thus having two characters played out the same, but different genders. I don't see what the point of changing sixes would do for the game, it'd just be a waste of space in data I think.

I think he is saying it so he can keep his experience/quest progress/ect. I don't think it's a bad idea, there has been http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/six_reassignment_surgery since as early as http://www.transgenderzone.com/features/six_change.htm Thus, it exist in the fallout universe, since the breakoff date is in 1940-1945.
