gender changing mid-game

Post » Thu Mar 31, 2011 9:44 pm

In F3 you can change your face in Rivet City. How about changing your gender, too? It could be a successful surgery, or it might turn out to be some rush job. Is it in NV?

The only problem I see off hand is if the game has some things that are gender exclusive in which case a gender-changing option could be used to abuse this.

Uh why do you consider it "abuse"? It's not cheating or anything.

The only perk I could think of that would abuse the ability to gender change is Black Widow/Lady Killer.

You can six change, pass an otherwise difficult speech check and then go back to being a dude... =p

I thought the plastic surgeon was helpful, sometimes.

But gender changing would be a little much. So... no.

to be honest no one has ever changed their gender.... its quite impossible..... the only real way would be too somehow take your brain and put it in another body....

I didn't like the plastic surgeon either, I was cool with the barber though...that was nice.

Anyway no to six changes, if you want to live out your transixual fantasies do it somewhere else.

Now that's just plain offensive- and I'm someone who doesn't like MJ!

But I don't think that gender change is a good, or even viable option- it occurs almost always as a result of someone believing that they were born the "wrong" six, which is a distinct minority. Because of this, the wasteland doctors aren't going to have the experence required for six-change operations. Let's not forget that those areas tend to be well-supplied with blood, and lacking modern medical technology, someone is likly to bleed out before the operation is finished.

But... But... I wanna roleplay as a transixual!
...
What about a pre-war plastic surgeon robot?

But this could create complications... What if you got a follower and leave him at some settlement and when you come back you're the other gender. What would the follower's reaction be? What would other NPC's reactions be?
Might be too hard..

The whole concept is just a little strange. Getting a six change is a little too far out there.

I thought that that option/ability from the Scientist/Doc in the Bow of the Carrier by Rivet City was pushing it a bit too far, as for him to be able to do that successfully he would need a sterile operating theatre and all the gubbins to go with it.

Also why would we want to change our gender other than to try to gain access to something we may be barred from due to the characters chosen gender, that is something you can do in a replay. We do not need to be able to do everything in a single playthrough, personally I do not want to be able to do everything in a single playthrough as that limited the replayability value in my opinion.

Um no, that would be akin to cheating in my book. That was a reason why I didnt use the face change option from pinkerton, supposedly from whats said in game no one would recgonize me so I could start a new life. I say pft my latest playthrough is the most evil character you could be and I dont care to change my face to hide that im a petty theif, a murderer, and slaver. Why would I want the option to change my face.

Like wise why would I want an option to change my gender. If I want to play as a girl I would pick the girl gender from the start and follow through.

Well the thing is to have the option open for those that want to change their character six and face later in the game.
Comes down to the old argument: You don't like it, don't use it.

Besides sounding really shady the only in game problem I see is how npc's talked/reacted to you before that. Are you a completely new person and nobody recognizes you for the new six you are? Or do the just act normal and swap out he for she vice versa in their speech about you? After figuring out how the npcs would react I'd just make it cost ahefty price and have it done someone a little safer than pinkertons rusty mirelurk covered surgery table . .

Correct but its more than just not wanting to use it, its the fact that it wouldnt fit. I mean the facial surguery was kind of out there considering that your face was altered in a room that looked like it had all kinds of things growing.

But I guess if it comes down to if you dont like it dont use it then I guess they should add in strip clubs with live nvde strippers then like some of those mods do. I mean after all if people are opposed to it then they dont have to go into the strip club in the first place. I mean if we are going to start adding all this stuff and use the excuse "you dont like it dont use it" then we got to add all kinds of stuff that people want then.

Well, maybe.

If you can only change once in-game.
