Gernades and other thrown items

I'd love throwing spears, especially bound ones, and grenades would be great too. If you look up battles for skyrim on youtube the second one has an assassin wiping out a room with one. It's epic.

How many people actually read the OP?

I think these people just like any chance to state their distaste for Call of Duty as if they think it makes them seem more cultured and have more refined tastes and that being an Elder Scrolls fan somehow makes them smarter people. What grenade type potions?!? Sounds like COD type sorcery to me. What Flintlock Pistols?!? Get out of here COD really devoted fan. What First Person View....... oh wait.

Also you are forgetting that this is the Elder Scrolls forums where new ideas and concepts are met with heavy resistance. Basically if it is new or different to what they have had before in an Elder Scrolls game it is automatically treated like the plague with a million voices chanting in unison "WE HATE CHANGE".

If you want to make enemies, try to change something.

id be okay with the splash potion or "grenade"...plenty of other RPGs have them and it would make Alchemy worth leveling imo. i could take or leave throwing spears though.

Just like a few people already explained, i can see you mean the fantasy type of grenade.
It is actually a good idea. Let's say (for example) that you are lvl 50 in alchemy, then you should be allowed to make those potions with different effects. (stun, damage, freeze, burn)

Although I would agree that there is some resistance to change I also believe that many negative comments about suggested additions do fall into the "it doesn't fit the TES universe" realm. Thrown weapons were in previous TES games, then were taken out. Adding them back in would be fine as it still fits in the game. Grenades or splash potions, although a good idea, never was in the game and doesn't quite fit, imo, into TES.

The difference, to me, from other RPG's that have such features is a very extensive lore in TES that others do not have. Not to say that everything must fit lore, but it helps when it does.

Just because one (or multiple) fantasy genre game has it doesn't mean it fits into all fantasy genre settings.

Are all fantasy games identical? Does each and every one of them have to have the same features?

Fairly certain every single Final Fantasy has some of the same features. Like features found in a fantasy setting. Which Skyrim is. Magical grenades fit into fantasy settings. So it's not far fetched in the least for TES to have magical grenades.

I'm liking this idea. Didn't even think about it.

Well if they put in a throwing animation, then you should be able to equip other items in your hand and throw them. They already have physics...Sigil Stone WHACK!

I think it would be great, and if you're going to add a skill tree then projectiles is one that could be used by all classes & builds.

You seem to be confused as to what I am arguing. I don't care what features Final Fantasy has. TES is not Final Fantasy. I don't like Final Fantasy. I don't want TES to have features just because Final Fantasy had them. Is this making sense to you? If you love FF so much, go play FF. If you love Witcher so much, go play Witcher. Am I getting through to you?

Irony.

TES is a fantasy setting.
Magical grenades fit in a fantasy setting.
Thus magical grenades can easily fit into TES.

Am I getting through to you?

It's like you're arguing that just because it's "TES" it shouldn't have swords, magic, trolls, etc. It's a fantasy setting game. Magic in a bottle, i.e. a magical grenade, has been in the fantasy setting for God knows how long. A magical grenade item is not going to hurt TES in the least.

Good to know that because you can't actually debate the subject you call me a troll.

"Dense," from the one who is saying just because "it's TES" magical grenades can't fit.

Next you'll tell me that because it's TES it should never have chimeras.

but i could see having something similar to a grenade in game, i mean in dungeons you have those flaming pots that fall onto the pools of oil on the ground, you could have something similar to that, like a jar that you throw and it splatters oil all over the target or where it hits, and then it would amplify like flame enchantments and spells or even be able to throw a flame pot or something, i mean just because its in the game doesnt force you to use it, but id like to keep everything in the game related to the lore of the game

I can see why some people are taking the "LOL BRO GRENADEZ"? approach to this topic but I personally think it would fit it quite well.

Ever seen a cave floor coated with oil and a lantern hanging above? Shoot the lantern and it drops exploding and burning anyone unfortunate enough to be standing underneath. Same basic principle of having a handheld version that explodes on impact.

Put oil in a vial, wrap the vial in cloth, enchant the cloth with a fire enchantment. Instant fantasy grenade.
