Gernades and other thrown items

Dwemer grenades would be interesting, but maybe with a dwemer themed expansion pack.

Although I would agree that there is some resistance to change I also believe that many negative comments about suggested additions do fall into the "it doesn't fit the TES universe" realm. Thrown weapons were in previous TES games, then were taken out. Adding them back in would be fine as it still fits in the game. Grenades or splash potions, although a good idea, never was in the game and doesn't quite fit, imo, into TES.

The difference, to me, from other RPG's that have such features is a very extensive lore in TES that others do not have. Not to say that everything must fit lore, but it helps when it does.

Just because one (or multiple) fantasy genre game has it doesn't mean it fits into all fantasy genre settings.

And just because it may not have been in previous installments of a game series doesnt mean it cant be brought in, of course with everything that has been taken out of the series the chance of grenade type potions being added in future Elder Scrolls games is slim to nil (well at least until they give us back our crossbows, throwing weapons, spears ect) however I feel that they would be a great addition to the game and a great way to expand the alchemy skill.

Alchemy is already a big part of the Elder Scrolls universe and we know the ancient Nords created traps using flamable oil so what would be so wrong with extending the alchemy skill to cover the crafting and use of combustable potions or even splash damage potions for that matter? Covertly poisoning somebody by slipping a poison vial into their pockets is perfectly fine but splash potions are stupid?

I get it, sometimes change isnt always for the best but most Elder Scrolls fans seem to be flat out opposed to change merely because it is different, like they expect every new installment to be exactly the same as the last only with better graphics, how can we expect games to evolve if we dont keep our minds open to new ideas and concepts?

Good to know that because you can't actually debate the subject you call me a troll.

"Dense," from the one who is saying just because "it's TES" magical grenades can't fit.

Next you'll tell me that because it's TES it should never have chimeras.

Forget it Eric, its the Elder Scrolls forums.

I know when the first Assassins Creed came out I thought it was an amazing game even though there was very little to the combat It was that perfect amount of what I could do and what I couldn't do. Then they started coming out with new weapon types and abilities and now when I play it I feel like there is so much to do and ways to exploit it that combat became to simple and the game has no real dificulty to me and for the most part I feel forced to use these items and abilities that I dont really want to use. I think this is the major reason people that have been with the franchise for a long time wont want these changes because they feel they will have to use these new tactics or be gimped by not using them. I know I would be pissed if a weapon like a gun or something I didnt feel felt right in this franchise was introduced then everytime I go into battle there was someone kicking my but with it. Though there are people talking about magic bombs the only thing I was really refering to when starting this topic was making molotolv cocktail style bombs simalar to how the lantern and oil mechanic that already exist in the game and a smoke/poison gas grenade simalar to the poison dart traps that exist already in the game. To me these would make more sense as far as fitting into the world that exist than the current options which are reverse pickpocket poison (which is dumb IMO would be better if there was a stealth weapon that allowed to to infect an unsuspecting person without being caught like the AC poisoning way or dart gun) or attach a poson to X weapon and it only last 1 hit. That makes no sense to me.

I think these people just like any chance to state their distaste for Call of Duty as if they think it makes them seem more cultured and have more refined tastes and that being an Elder Scrolls fan somehow makes them smarter people. What grenade type potions?!? Sounds like COD type sorcery to me. What Flintlock Pistols?!? Get out of here COD really devoted fan. What First Person View....... oh wait.

Also you are forgetting that this is the Elder Scrolls forums where new ideas and concepts are met with heavy resistance. Basically if it is new or different to what they have had before in an Elder Scrolls game it is automatically treated like the plague with a million voices chanting in unison "WE HATE CHANGE".

If you want to make enemies, try to change something.

This so hard.

At first I was like "hell no! This is a fantasy game they didn't have grenades!" and then I derped cuz then I realized hey, it could be some kind of magical elixir or something and could fit in.

Also, I would like to see thrown weapons come back. I do miss the thrown weapons from Morrowind.

As a big Morrowind fan I can honestly say that thrown weapons in that game were absolutely and completely worthless.

Maybe.

I liked 'em for RP purposes and would like to see them make a return.
