Glitches caused by the 1.2

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 1:05 pm

I've found now that I can no longer put weapons onto racks or wall plaques, I have the option to use them but instead of the weapon appearing on the rack/plaque it simply falls to the ground as if i dropped it, or shoots off in a random direction. Also my dragons seem to be flying backwards and jumping/teleporting around in the sky. so what the hell is going on there..?

I'm running through a lot of things in game now to see if I can find any issues, if I do I will post them here. Anyone else having any issues with the 1.2 patch, other than the horrid magicka resistance issue that we are all having?

I think the weapons rack/wall plaque bug has been reported before the patch.

it was working fine for me before the 1.2 patch though, only since i've downloaded the patch have i not been able to use them. lol

My texture issue has been fixed thank god. did you delete it of the HD and re-install after downloading the patch? That's what i did and it seemed to work, if you were playing off the HD of course.

I installed the patch and played for about an hour this morning before work and all my textures are beautiful now. Thanks for the patch Bethesda. Also, I have been unable to put/take weapons on/off the rack since before the patch, so I don't think its related. It worked for a while but when I reached around the 40 hour mark, the racks stopped working, but, like I said, that was pre-1.2 patch. Anyways, I'm pleased with the patch. Can't wait for more patches to fix the rest of our gripes :)

Had problems with two-handed weapon in racks pre 1.2 as well. Post 1.2 I can no longer absorb dragon souls...

The bookshelves are also broken. If you add/remove a book, it just freezes up and you can't activate it, or any of the books again.

Yes it's not that much of a problem, but dammit, it added to the atmosphere, was an amazing small feature, and not it's broken.

Since patch 1.2 I have been experiencing some insane frame rate drops in certain areas of the world map. I realised that all these areas had a backwards flying dragon, so I'm guessing this is linked to that somehow.

Did any of you clear the cache before the 1.2 install? Wondering if I need to do that or just go through with the update.

I had everything cleared before I saw the forums so I had to start again with the new patch,
what I have noticed so far besides the resistance issue is the following.
- textures have been improved.
- some pop up in the world that was not there before along with some minor lag from time to time, again that was not there before.
- screen tearing from time to time (especially in the intro cutscene), not there before.
- have not reached the first dragon battle so I cannot comment on that.

So far, twenty minutes after the update , I'm getting these three problems:
- dragons are flying backwards and not landing when in battle/enemy mode
- wood cutter in Windhelm has logs of wood stuck to his axe
- pixelization of textures all over Windhelm

My dragons had always been fine until this patch. Now, my dragons fly backwards, teleport around the sky and do flickery movements (like you do on call of duty with a laggy connection), fly through mountains and breath fire/ice at nothing. I had to abandon trying to kill the dragon as it was impossible...

Also, sometimes my game freezes for a few seconds, which never happened before. It has done it everytime I dealt the finishing blow to a dwenmer spider worker and various other random locations.

Since the patch I have run into dragons who fly backwards, fly into mountains, won't land, and won't die. Yes I actually managed to kill one of the bugged out [censored]ers and his health reset. I'm going to play something else until this patch is fixed. I'm not mad or anything I just don't want to dampen the experience. It is a bummer though. Also I don't see any other bugs being fixed other than texture bugs. Is that really all they set out to do? They could have fixed the cowl from the dark brotherhood armor set and the weapon racks, although this would make the patch come out later I think the added time would have helped them avoid the amount of buggyness they have created with 1.2. I am disappoint.

I will go ahead and assume the patch for the patch for the patch will take another two to three weeks so I'm on hiatus until then. Battlefield it is!

Also I get terrible lag when fighting the bugged dragons. It's so bad I can't even move my cursor. I almost died from a wolf and I've got close to 400 health.

Just installed the patch and this is what i have encountered:

- Textures: i am not sure about them. I Think that they have improved but i cannot be sure.
- Just slain the dragon sitting on a word wall on top of the mountain directly across shearpoint but no soul was released (trying it again after this post)
- Word wall mentioned above did not release a thu'um (could hear the change in music though) also the screen did not faded to black.
- When the dragon landed it jumped from one location to another (glitch-like).
- The overall "feel of the game" has changed to unstable. loading screens seem to last longer and images and text are not always loaded.
- in city textures load randomly and "jumpy"(sorry...no better word for it) for example: things suddenly appear or are loaded with correct textures only when well within line of sight. so too late.

Still the best game i played in years :D

update: Tried the dragon again but same issues.

Not all the dragons in my game are bugged, but the majority of them either do not release a soul upon death or they simply fly backwards crazily. This was not an issue for me pre v1.2.

Just decline and play the game offline for now. You will still get credit for acheivements after you exit the game, and at least we can keep playing until Bethesda fixes this buggy load of horse dung they call a patch.

I can't say one way or another on the resistances however as previously mentioned I can confirm on the buggy dragons.

I'd advise to completely avoid these as I've experienced progressive frame rate drop while engaging these foes. Particularly the hovering dragon that wasn't going forward or backwards. With each arrow I put into it the more lag I experienced. When it's health was gone it started glitching from one position to another. I just quit playing at this point as I'm surprised my console didn't freeze up with the amount of lag I was experiencing at that point.

*I had yet to experience any form of lag / frame rate issues pre - 1.2 as an aside*
