Good old movies you've seen recently for the first time.

Last year a week before christmas I watched the colourized, HD version of It's a wonderful life because I had never seen it and it is considered one of the American Christmas classics. I really loved it but was surprised how little it had to do with Christmas. I think only the last 10% of the film was set during Christmas when he was with the guardian angel and everything. The rest of it though was really amazing. The story and character development was brilliant.
That's the same thing I think about the song "Jingle Bells" Probably the one song most associated with Christmas, and it actually has absolutely nothing about Cristmas in it. It's all about the winter season "dashing theu the snow "and all that, ntohing whatsoever about Xmas..
(BTW, is anybody else sick to death of Jingle Bells? I hate that song with a passion.)

I'm pretty sure it was either too long or they are two seperate storys, I havem't read the Hobbit book(I know, shame on me...)
The first one is called "The Hobbit:An Unexpected Journey"
and the other is "The Hobbit:There and Back Again"
Hmmm... I have read the Hobbit quite afew times and IMO,The Hobbit is not really that big enough of a book to have to be divided into two movies, and, IIRC, (I suppose I could be rembering wrong, although I don't believe so) those two titles in the Tolkien books ...
"An Unexpected Journey" Is what Bilbo Baggins' record of his adventures in the Hobbit is entitled.
"There and Back Again" is Frodo's account of his adventures in LOTR.
Unless you can provide an official source for it being two movies, I have my doubts.

I need to see that. Just watched him in The Hustler, which was longer than it needed to be but the acting was great.

Started watching Blade Runner for the first time last week. It looked great for a little bit of an older movie and Harrison Ford was excellent.

It influenced Fallout so I thought I might as well check it out, cool to see the .223 pistol in the flesh.

The Big Sleep
I love this movie so much. That James Bond movie, uh, The World is Not Enough, I think, totally ripped off (or homaged it, whatever) the casino scene.

I recently saw Taxi Driver, Once Upon a Time in America(full 229m version), and The Godfather Part I, II, and III, for the first time,

Oh and by old movies I basically mean movies before 1990.
I saw Clockwork Orange yesterday, and The day the earth stood still, not the bad Keanu Reeves version, but the good one from 1951.

I watched The Usual Suspects for the first time last night...oh my goodness, it's incredible! Can't imagine it'll be the same to watch it a second time though (a bit like Inside Man, once you know the twist it just isn't as good).

It set me up on a Kevin Spacey spree, watching K-Pax and 21 straight after :)

Watch Seven and The Negotiator too. Good films with Spacey in them.

Haven't seen it recently, but one of my favorite older movies goes to: The Great Escape. Definitely one of the best movies I have ever seen. There were a lot of funny moments in that movie, and a lot of suspenseful moments. Great movie.
