People generally don't surround themselves with ideas they don't agree with. Or even take particular stock in ideas they don't agree / believe in.
I'm aware of that. But on the occasions that they
do make some attempt to break out of their biases, I don't think it's a good thing for them to discover that their beliefs were well founded after all (whether they were or not). Plus, having to dig more to find stuff that agrees with them may have some positive effect

And Google uses web history to "filter" out results - but I turned off my web history with Google literally years ago, so they don't have the ability to filter based on my preferences.
Basically, Google gives me the same, if not better results then DDG.
I, too, have blocked Google's cookies. But plenty of people don't, and DDG is hardly going to point out plugins such as http://www.ghostery.com/, are they?
