Google my bing, you yahoo.

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 4:15 am

I use to mostly use Google for a few years, I didn't like their auto search before you finish typing thing they added so I switched to using Bing must of been a year or more ago.

I am actually quite angry at Google, I use to be rather anonymous on the web my name wouldn't show up on web searches on different engines. However my unlisted telephone number that I pay to keep out of the phone book now shows up on the online directory of the phone book first link on the search of my name on Google. It bugged me a bit at first but I thought nothing of it till I started recieving drunken phone calls about half an hour after the bars close around here from people I haven't talked to in 5 years that found my number on Google. Then I have to have a discussion with them about why I actively chose not to talk to them and if I hear from them again in another 5 years it'll be all too soon which tends to end in one of us yelling profanities at the other.
Not the sort of thing I like to do at 3 in the morning, thank you very much Google. Evil corporation.

Because of the pre "friendship is magic" stuff?
Oh no it's not THAT bad! I'm talking about the constant R34 stuff that constantly finds it's way through my filter.

I used Altavista up until around 2001 or so. Nothing but Google since then.

I do use Google but I hate to do so. Google's got some pretty shady business practices that make me legitmately uncomfortable.

I don't usually use any search engine, if I must it's Google, but I used to use AskJeeves. I'll probably switch to Biing one of these days.

I used to use Dogpile and then Yahoo! but now I use Google. I'm planning on a switch though, because of their KGB/Gestapo/CIA persona.

Google, foogle. As a society dropout, I don't use search engines. That's just the man trying to impose his control. Instead, I use a random number generator to create IP addresses and I type them in. Much more fun than search engines. So far today, I've found a website with instructions on how to return faulty goods to Samsung, A web page showing how to cook toast using a hair dryer and some pictures of a man with dungarees and a harp.

Try finding that on Google... (without using it's search facility)...

My only problem with Google is that it's highly dangerous to search for My Little Pony pictures.. :( And I suppose that's the case for most stuff when searching for images, even on nun-mode.
This pony stuff is a virus! I swear!

I added Duck Duck Go to my Firefox search box list thing. I've been using it all day. I have to say, I really like it so far. The search results can feel a bit less personally relevant, but they're far more diverse and interesting than the results that Google returns -- and that's with someone who has turned off his Google web history.

Google's more useful if you want to get information really quickly. Duck Duck Go is better suited to returning more interesting or diverse content. The latter is generally what I'm looking for.

Ah okay. You mean like 2 bronies 1 Big MacIntosh?

Edit: Don't worry, I made that up. There is nothing like that.

Google only since 2002. Bing holds no interest for me. Yahoo! did for a couple years before Google. I think my Mom uses Yahoo! search since her email is there and its her home page.

I haven't used Yahoo since middle school. I am a freshman in college now. :P I love Google. Its a name in my opinion as well.
