GW2 vs TESO

There will be plenty of new thing to discuss by the time the forums officially migrate over.

You've still got some time to discuss here, though.

Yay for conversation.

Will our accounts here work on the official forum? Are the moderators here going to be there as well?

I like GW2, just can't stand the korean-mmo art design for the norn and humans, especially the females. Also the animations are a bit weird for those two as well. Charr own though.
Korean-MMO art design?
Funny, my first association when I saw Norn was Barbarian from Diablo 3.
After taking few more looks it actually reminds me of Skyrim.
I mean, just look http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/d/d3/Norn_heavy_armor_concept_art.jpg.

WTF are you talking about,GW2 looking like Skyrim, get to an opticians quickly before you crash your or bike, you don't want to walk your paper round.
You are one who needs to get to an opticians quickly since he has a point.
GW2 actually looks more like TES than TES:O.

Art style can be a technical restraint. realizing that skyrim is just one province, and all those models and textures were created over the course of 5 years would do you some good.
games are not easy things to make, lol. and none of this is complete or final art as you know, but dont get your hopes up for a total art style revision :/ its done.
they have the entire continent of tamriel plus future updates, they chose a style that lets them work a little faster and get more content available.

as far as gameplay, Tes:o still sounds alot like gw2, the limited hotbar, active blocking, stamina, weapon abilities coming before class abilities, breaking from the trinity.
all that sounds great to me :), its better than oblivion and morrowind combat [duh]
roleplay might suffer a bit, if you dont have an imagination :P

Lol,that's one picture of a Norn, that is not the world of Tyria. If he would of said: hey guys/girls doesn't this one picture of a Norn resemble a NORD out of Skyrim/TES then you would say yes,his armour and general build share a resemblance.

Now show us screenshot of Tyria world and the other races and tell us that it looks like Skyrim or TES,you can't lol.

Time to get your butt to the opticians along with your pal who also has difficulty seeing.

Korean-MMO art design?

I never said it was massive, but it certainly is there..

I still like the game, but I still hate some of the minor korean art design choices. Also kinda hope they fix the humanoid run animations, seems floaty.

I've been uninterested in MMOs since 2006. I did try Guild Wars 2 Beta, and I loved it. I actually had fun ALL THE TIME. Nothing felt like a chore, and getting along with the other players were absolutely no effort at all. I'm totally going to get it once it's out, especially since it has no subscription fee.

If TESO is anything like GW2 I might consider getting it. I'll never take another glance at the game if it has subscription fee though.

I can see that you insist on being an idiot.

What me and the other guy were trying to say is that it's sad that GW2 looks more like TES more than TES:O.
Not only you should go and see an optician, but you should also learn how to read properly and understand what you read.

Now stop bothering me.

Oh, didn't notice those.
All the screenshots, videos and concept art I saw didn't look like that.
Still, at least it's not present a lot.
Tera, on the other hand, is full of that crap. >_>

Even though I am not keen of that style, I still wouldn't have nothing against it if it wasn't everywhere!

Somebody finally realizes that TESO wont fair against GW2, because when TESO does come out, people will be JUST becoming pros (possibly) and making large sums of cash (possibly)

Frankly GW2 is already light years ahead of TESO. It's as if they are both running a 100m course whereas GW2 has a 50m head start.

How far ahead they are remains to be seen. Does GW2 have a release date yet? Do we know exactly what will bein in TESO, and what they are done with yet? For all we know their project is far mroe abitious in scope than GW2 - we won't know until more info is released.

Well I can certainly say that the way you interact with your environment in Guild Wars 2 looks to be certainly much better.. Also random events i can see being better in Guild Wars but I shouldn't be completely one sided though.. Also if your saying a release date makes a game good than you certainly have no idea what your talking about.. (I expect you to agree with my view and that i just read that wrong ~ if so that I am mistaken, please leave a post saying why you believe a release date makes a game better.)

Also the part about Ambition, Guild Wars 2 also had a strong ambition just not the same.. TES:O's ambition is to make a Elder Scrolls feel to a MMO but clearly not getting that Tamriel isn't the definition of Elder Scrolls.. To me its more the mechanics of the game, the writing - events - point of interests - dungeons - housing - etc, and the world of Tamriel.. They got 1/3 in my book and Guild Wars has already knows its flaws from their previous game and now improving upon them..

~Luj1~ your posts make me laugh :D

I've heard some long time beta testers say they won't be ready for up to 6 months, that's why I asked. Cheers to them, though if they will be ready by August. And the second half of your post really doesn't need a reply, it's just silly.

Nah, I was referring to the post I replied to that said GW2 was 'way ahead' of TESO. I was kinda just joking around - you know taking it literally, as in they'll finish first like in a race.

I'd agree with wtflag and say that Guild Wars 2 is already miles ahead of The Elder Scrolls online.

You can't just throw SWTOR, WoW or WAR into a boiling cauldron, slap on the TES name and expect good results.
Elder Scrolls players want independence to freely do what they want, when they want, where they happen to want.

If I want to be an argonian werewolf that murders a quest giver, I want to feel the repercussions of that.
As well, piloting an avatar (the usual 'MMO style') is not the same as an FPS direct-to-hit feel you need.

Guild Wars 2 has new ideas, independence from factional burdens, flexible levelling areas & extreme customization in RP/character.
The only thing it hasn't got is first person view. But that is a feature that would be more expected from an ES MMO, not a normal one.

All in all, I'd say (and I hate to stereotype..) that if you, the developer, are not completely ripping out the pages like GW2- you're an 'EQ/WoW clone'.
