GW2 vs TESO

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 10:54 pm

All in all, I'd say (and I hate to stereotype..) that if you, the developer, are not completely ripping out the pages like GW2- you're an 'EQ/WoW clone'.
You should read the GI article , this game screams GW2.

Or you can just be wrong again :P

We all have our faults, my friend. Whether you admit to it or not, that is what defines you.

Wrong.
GW2 actually looks more like TES than TES:O does.
Check screenshots from TES:O; they look nothing like TES!
GW2 has at leas some similarities.

And we go round and round, ill tell you what, why don't you lead the way.

Post us some screenshots side by side,GW2 and TES.

I'M giving you real chance to prove me wrong, the next move is yours.

Let's settle this once and for all,you should have no problem proving your claim, after all it was you who first made it.

Ill wait here.

Fair enough.

The first picture looks like a generic fantasy MMO and the second one like Kingdom of Amalur. It doesnt look like TES at all.

Exactly,it's actually laughable that he/she still thinks that GW2 looks like a TES game.

The reason i dislike Elder Scrolls Online is because it doesn't bring anything new to the table in the MMO franchise.. Guild Wars 2 however is taking a new approach on PvP, ingame interactions and several more essential MMO statistics.. Elder Scrolls Online would be great if they followed the mechanics of TES:III-V.. but they are stealing other MMO mechanics which i have no interest in.. I have interest only in creativity and originality..

Also I don't know how anyone could fight on which looks like a TES Game.. Its just impossible... Do you want the game to look like Morrowind? Do you want it to look like Oblivion? What defines the look of Elder Scrollls.. Nothing.. Only the world of Tamriel, and I can say that either could be the world of Tamriel.. But like science you don't make conclusions on something's appearance but you conclude on the internal structure of the game.. So stop looking at the game world and start looking at the mechanics..!

If you believe you can define what a Elder Scrolls Game looks like, then please respond I would like to be enlightened..!

in a post above they showed a TES:O pic.. and a guy standing had a SWTOR animation..... Ya i played it a little to much awhile back..

From the info we got in ESO, its doing very similiar things in all of those aspects...

oh really now.. Lets look at Guild Wars 2.. In the middle of the Guild Wars 2 world has a PvP world inwhich soon as u enter you go into a new server where all servers have access too.. WoW is adopting that feature and map interactions is now available for Guild Wars 2 which won't be i bet in TES:O ~ and not in WoW.. Like lets say a bridge blows up.. The bridge will be destroyed but will fix over time or only on your screen its destroyed.. From TES:O a random person may just say, my caravan was taken and can you find my goods.. Whats better true map interaction or just one way pathed environment with no true interactions.. Another I saw in another gameplay video these people were going along and a huge boss came out of nowhere.. From Zenimax Online's own words "your playing the same game as everyone else" Was in GI mag article.. In a MMO you don't want to play the same game as everyone else.. You want your experience to be diverse... Also all these statistics are already in WoW.. Guild Wars is taking a leap in terms of MMO's and actually doing something different setting it different from all the other competitors..

I was talking about the dynamic events, 3 way open world pvp for taking over objectives/cities, skill slot system, and weapon swapping changing skills.

I find it ironic at the people hating on TES then praising GW2 to no end.

How is that irony? And if you weren't talking about that then please say what you were..... 0_O

Just if you don't know what irony is I will give the Google definition..

Irony: Noun:
The expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.

Example~ You read a book about humans who walk on one leg and you turn on the TV and see a guy walking on 1 leg..

Hating on ESO and loving GW2 is a good example of irony or being hypocritical. They share quite a bit in common.

You are one acting like an idiot here because I just replied on what you wrote first!
So no, I didn't make the claim first, nor did I said anything until you started bashing him.

I already gave you screenshots.
Now piss off, I don't want to have anything to do with stubborn idiots like you who are just a waste of time.

Actually, these two armors from TES:O screenshot look more like KoA:R.
Also, even though you claim that first picture looks like a generic fantasy, it still looks more like TES than TES:O since the style is similar.

TES has no look only a skeleton as I said before.. Nothing looks like TES because i can sure as hell say Skyrim doesn't look like Morrowind or Oblivion..

So TES never has and never will have a look... ~unless they start only using one engine over and over and over and over then yes..

So TES:O is good because they are copiers? What happened to the age of Creative games.. So this is what it has come to.. Despicable industries making money off of others creativity.. I for one will not buy TES:O then if your admitting that.. The most hyped things for guild Wars 2 are all things they were creative enough to make.. Think of one thing they are hyping that another MMO has done?

GW2 is coming out first, but TESO has been in development since '07 - not sure you can call them copiers. I'm thinking with the size of the team and the amount of time they've had, we are going to see a level of content and polish not seen in a long time.

If you were making an MMO and then I said I am making an MMO with Flying Snakes and then you say im gonna add Flying Snakes to my game.. That's copying.. Who's idea was it first.. 0_O Come on man, that's common sense.. You forgot one big big big big detail though.. You say its gonna be a very polished game but your not understanding that 3-4 years on a MMO can be more polished than a 5 year one.. Yet your polish MMO game thought doesn't work because construction on Guild Wars 2 began in 2007 as well..So you got both studios beginning same year.. You got Guild Wars 2 with experience at MMO construction and on top of that you got Guild Wars 1 which is used the same engine as Guild Wars 2..Guild Wars has been out before 2006 and they just modified it like Bethesda did to their engine..

Uh, not really. Some of those things would need to be in from the start. Don't think you can just tack it on. It also remains to be seen who implements some of these ideas better.

reread mine modified it

Actually and from this statement your kinda wrong.. Because in Skyrim's development they tacked on all these different things the community wanted.. They didn't plan for horses or werewolves.. And also they have no experience with MMO's and i don't think they are gonna be like the Dev team who made Arkham Asylum... The developers of Guild Wars are also already use to their engine since they used to make Guild Wars 1 which was released in 2006.. Zenimax Online had to get use to their engine in 2007 and it would've taken more than a day I can assure you.. Also remember most of Bethesda's fans who are TES fans are on the consoles..

You are way off on this. Bethesda isn't making this game, you know. Zenimax Online Studios is being run by Matt Firor - he's got 20 years in online game development experience, and was behind DAOC (my favorite MMO, and one that was very critically acclaimed.) He assembled his team from experts in the industry with a lot more experience than some guys who 'made GW1.' Don't get me wrong - I admire the team that is making GW2 - and I like many of their ideas. I'm just saying don't write TESO off yet. I think some people are going to be suprised.
