Happy with the decision?

Bunch of fan boys here, look outside these forums and people are canceling their pre orders left and right. Huge mistake.

Well as no-one has confirmed it then I think I must have gotten my wires crossed. I probably read something about game time-cards and ZO supporting a variety of sub models (plus the Wildstar pricing model thread) and it must have fried something in my brain. Apologies if I got anyone's hopes up!

To be honest, if this is true, it would most likely be the same case in any scenario, be it F2P, B2P or P2P.

No MMORPG has an offline mode. And you never own any software that you don't program yourself, just a license to use it in whatever manner the owning company dictates is okay with them.

If it helps Nord, now you can hold them to a higher standard for fixing bugs than you would Bethesda with the single player titles (because let's be honest here, they don't have the best track record in that regard), and be totally justified--If they want your $15 a month, they need to deliver what you feel is a quality experience.

A lot of new names around here complaining about today's news. Did people just start following this game in order to say they won't buy it? Suspicious...

I don't really give a [censored], but lol. They have some balls if they think this is going to be any different from any other subscription MMO.

sound slike your a really devoted fan of your preffered model... Im no fan boy, I follow games very closely before deciding if I want to play it. And I am not ignornat nor greedy - I watch trends, I watch playerbases, genre directions, etc... - It is part of my career. Sub model is the best possible choice for this game. I am very excited with their decision, if you thought for a moment that any other payment model would have had prevented thousands from cancelling their pre-orders then you need to rethink some things. Not to mention at least 40% of the players that HAVE cancelled and decided they are not going to play the game will still play the game at some point, then at least half of that 40% will continue to play and pay for the subscription.

Do me a favor, log into a WoW server with high population and ask how many of them want to pay a sub for wow in a global chat channel; then take into account the responses you get and how the players that sent you the very same responses are online paying the sub at that very moment.

Neat trick, seeing as how we can't even officially pre-order yet.

That's definitely the bright side for me.

If they are going to ask for $15 a month, I will expect a near perfect game.

I don't care simply because it didn't matter because I was going to play this game whatever it cost me.

^^^ This right here, this is why P2P TESO will lose players like crazy. There's no such thing as a near perfect game, but because they're paying for it, people will expect a lot, which is hard to deliver.

Near perfect is hard to pull off (since some elements are highly subjective), and the complexity of interactions with MMOs versus single player games sometimes lead to odd bugs that take longer than anyone expects to fix, but it's still perfectly fair to hold them to a higher standard than you would if they were producing a B2P title.

Agree.

I just expect more because I'm paying more. Which is natural.

And that this game isn't. Not near perfect and doesn't have quite high standard either. With already released information of the game it's easy to notice it doesn't reach the same quality and high standard with the main TES games.

anyone that thought they pre-ordered at this stage is not really making good decisions already. That was just registering with some vendor and had absolutely NOTHING to do with the game.

Because the main series is always patched up properly so that there aren't thousands of bugs left over after the developers quit working on them.

Eve isn't dead, last I checked that is and it still has a subscription fee. Maybe LOTOR and Everquest as well, perhaps. But I have no idea if those two games are dead or are still kicking and have long ditched the P2P model.

If there are MMOs out there with a decent player base and have a subscription fee attached to it, I can't name them. You could say Planetside 2, if you want to get technical about it; though, It releasing as a F2P game and still is a F2P game with the optional fee negates it from the discussion. So there's that to think about...

What are you guys expecting more than what every other mmo has ever delivered for the exact same price? Seriously. This is standard operating procedure for MMOs like ESO. Look how much customization for character models you have, the fact that there are a lot of dungeon content, a massive PvP area, and the amount of PvE leveling options. P2P was the only way to go.

And if ANYONE has an issue with the extra fee for PS+ and XBLGold then play it on PC. Cuz which is more expensive: PS+/Gold or upgrading that comp?
