Happy with the decision?

Very happy with the decision. To me this proves that they have their head in the right place, and have confidence in their product. This shows that they are dedicated to delivering a high quality product. I'm pretty much sold after this decision, I will be playing this game.

LotRO and EQ have both gone F2P, but they're still around.

FF11 still runs with a good 500,000 subscribers (which starts at $12.95 US, and goes up $1 for each character you have, so at least $6.5 million in gross revenue every month).

LOTRO tripled revenue when they switched to F2P. That shows you that each model is for money and that is the goal.

Yes

I prefer to pay a sub for full access to the game then pay $60-$200 per character just to make the game bearable by unlocking eveything. When I play an alt I like to have all bag slots available instead of paying $50 to unlock them all. I like being able to enjoy my character instead of spending the majority of my time dropping or destroying and running back to town every 20 mobs. When I hit level 20 an a mount is available, I know I will have enough gold to buy a mount because someone didn't nerf the coin drops in the game before 20 to increase sales of their overly ridiculously priced mounts in the store. In a subscription game I know when I loot something it won't come with a popup asking me to swipe my credit card for a key to unlock it.

F2P means the game is designed for the store and not for the players. I prefer immersion in my games instead of feeling like I'm playing Bank of America Online.
