Happy with the decision?

Post » Thu Aug 22, 2013 8:03 pm

I'm very pleased that they chose to go with the P2P option and I think that they will do very well with it.

This isn't a P2P vs. F2P I just want to know how many people are happy with the decision, thank you.

I don't personally like it, but I can see why they did it. It's what I would do if I were marketing the games, but I won't have the time to play it enough to justify paying that much each month. This decision pretty much means that I'm going to have to miss out on a game that I have been getting very excited about, even if people who do have the money and time for it will most likely get a better experience.

Very happy. This decision assures me ZOS is aiming for a real AAA premium MMO.

Swtor was P2P, but was anything but a premium AAA MMO. This decision can just as easily mean they want to milk as much money as they can before it goes F2P.

I'm very happy. F2P games attract far too many kiddos and bads. I view the sub fee as a filter.

Very happy! Can't see this game being the next big MMO if it started off as F2P.

and SWTOR failed because it wasn't a very well made game. Had nothing to do with its pay model. and yeah said "is Aiming for" the end result is of course yet in doubt. But for me this is a step down the right path.

Be fair--Pang said they were "aiming for AAA quality". Even the most optimistic of us knows that they still have to deliver that kind of quality game for the sub to be worthwhile. But if everyone says they'd make more money as a F2P, how is taking the supposedly less profitable route milking it?

Not really, It just means to trolls have mommies and daddies who are willing to pay. It is as much as a filter as B2P or F2P is.

I believe is was a dumb decision, but who knows maybe they will actually be the first mmo in years to actually pull P2P off.

They actually get more money out of smaller playerbase as F2P games because those people spend way more than 15 a month in the cash shop that is why games go F2P. I'd say both models are trying to get money but either one isn't "milking" that would be a game that charges you to do anything which I have seen before and it was frustrating.

They won't have a pay to win shop. In an interview Matt Firor stated that they would have a vanity shop where you can buy pets and this didn't surprise me at all. The game however is completely open to you for 15 bucks a month and I would be willing to bet 100 bucks that they won't have an in game shop for items.

They SAID it is only vanity. If you believe everything they say, they have you fooled.

Can't care. Not don't, can't.

I'll be very surprised indeed if the available content takes a month to finish.

Normally MMOs keep me a bit longer because there is a lot of time involved in exploring classes and factions. the Faction+ content means no out-of faction alts are necessary, and the classes aren't distinct enough for me to really care about them. So, one main character played straight through, and I'll likely be done. Especially given the single player focus.

Assuming it interests me enough to pick it up at all. At this point, they're making a lot of effort to push me away.

Depends on how long you play each day. Their internal testing was showing about 150 hours to complete each faction, so that's about 11 weeks at 40 hours a week to get through it all. Me, I'm a flower sniffer, so it'll probably be six months before I even get one character to level 50.

People who like it, you realize the game will go free to play about 6 months after release right? That's the way of the subscription based MMO nowadays , most developers are seeing how it doesn't always work. Some games that were originally subscription based that went free to play include Star Wars: The Old Republic, DC Universe Online, The Secret World, Lord of The Rings Online, and Dungeons & Dragons Online not to mention quite a few more. And WoW is losing subscribers by the millions every year now.

Meanwhile more games are going Guild War's route with the one time $60 purchase and then full access. Yes many people left that game since there wasn't much to do at end game but they can always go back to the game knowing it's there with no restrictions like a subscription fee to hold them back from playing.

I am extremely happy with the monthly subscription fee Pay to Play (P2P) so I voted yes.

"Nowadays".

Seriously someone please explain to me how like 4 or 5 poorly made games in the last 5 years all trying to mount a success similar to WoW's as it was rising to its maximum glory does a trend make. How are we possibly ignoring the other several successful subscription MMOs that didn't make 12 million subs but still churned tons of profit and still continue to churn profits? Why are we ignoring all of these and more when brought up and continuing to state what we want which is a cheap to play game.

Why.

Oh hey look at that. More people are happy about this. No surprise here.

All you anti-p2p people would be praising how good this game will be because its b2p. The only reason why you are saying it's going to fail is because they picked a payment model that you don't like and now you want to throw a little tantrum.

Please tell me another B2P only MMO besides GW2. Where are all these developers launching B2P? I see a few big ones launching P2P, and a few launching F2P. Nary a B2P in sight, though.

Also stating a game has [censored] quality but "hey we can play it anytime we want" is...I don't even know what it is to be honest. Are people just that beaten down after the few failures (and when I say few, I mean few. It seriously hasn'tt even been that many [censored] games compared to how many have come out in the last decade) that they don't even want to try for a moderately successful game anymore? They just accept the drivel and are happy with it because its cheaper and less scary?

These are indeed dark days we live in, friends.

ROFL. Umm buddy. Sub fees mean they're aiming for money...not to make a quality game. Look in my signature if you need proof :)

It is because NEARLY EVERY P2P MMO that has come out in the last year has gone F2P and many of them had the same hype as this game, with the same argument for the model. Just because this is an elder scrolls game does not make a difference. They can just as easily make a bad MMO as everybody else. People seem to be under the impression that this is going to be the best game ever and that whatever the Devs are saying are 100% fact. We have 8-9 months before the game comes out and who knows, it might actually be worth it, but the trend says otherwise

P2P Does not equal a Great AAA game. Granted, SWTOR made me cynical of any MMO that comes out, because these arguments are the exact ones from Swtor before it was released. I really want this game to succeed and i am hoping it does, but many people do not want to pay monthly to play a game anymore.
