Turtle Beach is mostly junk, but I suppose good enough if you want a headset. You're better off with regular stereo headphones and an external mic though, if you've got the jacks for it.

no disrespect meant, but beats are rubbish. They're just very bass heavy headphones that are no better otherwise in sound quality than a $10 pair of Sony MDR-150s. at around $300 I believe you can get AKG k 242 HDs which are far superior.

Dres are friggin awesome, however if you want epic noise cancellation power (like when you want to pop in your favorite tune in the midst of battle :P) I'd recommend Bose. That is if you're crazy enough to spend that much money on it (don't remember the exact price but they cost substantially more than Dr.Dres)

(some) Bose have active noise canceling that actually does its job, though.

But if you aren't afraid to stick things in your ear, for isolation purposes you might be better off with a deep insert IEM with tri-flange silicon tips, or foam tips. http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/mc5.html, for example.

First, Bose noise-cancellation headphones cost less than the Beats headphones (well, the high end Beats, and I use that term with as much Internet condescension as I can muster). The Bose QuietComfort 3 are $350, roughly, while the Beats Pro are roughly $400.

And your second point? As for your first, you are talking about just one model here, and comparing it to the high-price Dres, besides the Dres at a Future Shop in Canada cost something like 300-400 bucks and Bose can go for over 500. However it doesn't matter, I prefer Bose at any rate.

@Daggerfallftw - I know you said vibration, but is it kind of like having earplugs in then tapping your head? Does it still occur if you loosen them/hold them just a bit off the ear? If that's the case, then perhaps they're creating too tight a seal/suction around/on your ear for some reason and could be something you could do for that? Did you try covering them with cotton t-shirt material (vs the stuff headphones usually are covered with) or um...something else...to lessen the ear pressure they create just to see if that helps for some odd reason? Anyway, they could just be defective, noisy plastic/construction that is hard to avoid outside of not moving an atom, or your ears are particularly unsuited for their shape etc. So yeah...I'd probably send them back for something else perhaps.

What Bose headphones go for $500? On Bose's website, the most expensive noise-cancelling headphones are the QuietComfort 3, which sell for $350 USD. The most expensive regular headphones that Bose sells on their website are the OE2i audio headphones, which sell for $180 USD. The only headphones that Bose sells that are above the $500 mark are their A20 Aviation headsets... which are for the aviation industry and not headphones meant for general use, and they cost $1,100 USD.

I was only comparing the noise-cancelling Bose headphones against the Dres Pro headphones because the Dres Pro headphones are similar in price, but the Bose are still cheaper. I'd chose Bose over Dres every day of the week. But over almost all other headphones I prefer my Sennheisers.

And my second point was... err... I forget.

As you can see Reneer, not a single one crosses into the 400$ range.

And the award for most overdramatic thread title of the year goes to daggerfallftw.

Don't buy Dr Dres or Bose. Both are overpriced, a lot. Just get a pair of Skull Candys.

Those have a built in mic. :P At any rate I think we can agree Bose is more worth it.

Be careful which model Skullcandy. Some of them are terrible, some of them are great. I'd avoid everything but the Aviators and Hesh 2.0 Up until now they've been nothing but fashion accessories, but they're starting to hire on some acoustic talent to break into the junior audiophile market as well.

Purchase my headphones model at retail price and use them for 4 months. You might find my choice of words to be a bit accurate.

I have a pair of http://www.blogmeright.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/12c582bef659c35e66489510cd5c3081_image_320x320.jpg headphones that I use when I don't feel like bothering people at night. They sound good, fit well, and are comfortable enough to where I can wear them for a few hours before my ears start to hurt. I've had more comfortable headphones before, but they have all broken.

Although it isn't actually mine, I'm just borrowing it from someone who never uses them. Ever. So, hey, free headphones!

I don't use them often because my sound setup is a lot better sounding than any headphones that I've ever worn. Having two 8 inch Woofers and directional tweeters will do that, I guess.

OP; =This one is currently using something called a "JVC" (this one does not know why the hairless ones must give such strange names to things :P). This one bought it from a vendor in the place they call "Helm of the Wind" for twenty septims, and they have served well.

No, they don't. They have an input-output attachment so that you can share the input signal with another pair of headphones. That's not a microphone. :P

And yes, I'd agree Bose > Beats. But Sennheiser > Bose.

Or get a pair of headphones that don't make you pay for the brand name, which all three of those companies do.
