Hearthfire PCPS3 release date Thread #1

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 2:12 am

If a small fry 74 mb dlc isn't released for ps3 it just tells me beth isn't putting in effort, time and money. This isn't like dawnguard where I could buy the story of hardware limitations or complex hard to work on code. This is a 74 mb dlc we are talking about. Hearthfire is the dlc that I will decide if they are being honest with fans or not.

Well, if I don't get DLC for Skyrim (at least HF), I will have to make a poilcy that henceforth, I can only buy Bethesda games used, and when there's enough used copies on the market that I don't force someone else to buy new. Further, no matter how good a game is, I never mention it to anyone I feel might buy it. Ergo, Bethesda Inc. gets exactly zero dollars and zero cents from me, and they do not profit as a result of my actions.

I can't do without their games, they're too damn good. But I can't lick the boot that kicks me in the face, either.

Yep. I will purchase beth games used from now on if thats how it turns out. I will treat them like the EA made Madden football series.

Well Hearthfire might only be small in size, because it reuses a lot of models and textures already in the game, but it is still going to eat up any available resources and bring out yet more glitches. It seemed to me it put more of a strain on things than Dawnguard ever did. The PS3 will probably get no new playable content till they fix whatever is already slowing things down. Both consoles had to take a serious downgrade in draw distance to free up some resources, so far only one console managed to get the DLC. Obviously at least some models of the PS3 are having problems, so no one gets it till it works on all PS3's. They are probably going to have to fix the problem before releasing anything bigger than Dawnguard anyway, or the next DLC is likely to be a permanent PC exclusive, so the PS3 players are bound to get something eventually.

https://twitter.com/DCDeacon/status/253146631938125826. It has nothing to do with the length of the DLC. They are just incapable of creating the DLC, period.

Wrong wrong wrong!

Pete Hines did NOT say they can't get DLC to work on the PS3 at all... The exact quote was "This is a DLC on PS3 issue." It's not that it can't work "at all"... He actually said Dawnguard was working fine on the PS3 - but not all PS3 Skyrim users would have the same experience... this basically directly points towards the same file-size memory problem the PS3 had at Skyrim launch.

This isn't a "we can't make it work with DLC" - he's basically saying we can't add to DLC due to memory problems without causing major issues for some players.

So, don't lie and say "they can't get it to work AT ALL"... Dawnguard is working... the problem is they can't get it to work optimally.

On a side-note - I've been slowly drifting away from these threads because, well, they don't accomplish much at all other than reminding me we don't currently have DLC content.

So, I stick to the assumption that I had when I bought Skyrim in the first place... that I had no idea there would be DLC content prior, and I just have fun with what I had. I don't need addons to have fun with Skyrim right now. :P

...but I hope in future the PS3 gets SOMETHING... if at least something unique that's tailored to work with the PS3 specs and around the problems.

I think we all know that we won't get an answer to this. Pete Hines has responded to it several times with the good-ole-fashioned, "We want to release the whole thing, etc., etc."

Considering the complete absence of DG or HF information for the PS3, I don't think it's too far-fetched to assume we're not getting it or may not get it until the GOTY edition releases (like with Oblivion). Only one month until the anniversary of Skyrim's release. We've come 11 months and 2 DLCs without a single word about the DLC on the PS3. I think it's fair to give up.
Totally agree with you! So it's time to give up !! In Dec,Mass Effect will come again!! With lots of DLC ,and no LAG problem!!

Well I think Beth need to rewrite main programm code on PS3 to fix so much problem. But it will cost lots of time. So everyone ,you need more waiting.Maybe when GOTY came out,it is will work normally, with no LAG

Well, everyone,look at here,

Bethesda: Missing Skyrim PS3 DLC 'our problem'
Company rep says lack of Elder Scrolls V add-on content for PlayStation 3 not Sony's fault; of performance, claims "for most folks, it'd be fine. For some, it wouldn't be."

It's nice that they admitted their mistake, but it's not like it changes jack. Still giving the runaround.

It's the uncertainty that's killing me.
You can laugh all you want (I sure would), but ever since HF was announced, I've been RPing all my characters with it in mind. It's kind of like spending hours leveling and perking your character into the perfect assassin, then finding out the Dark Brotherhood questline on your game is hopelessly and unpatchably bugged.
I suppose I could work on the one character I have who has no interest in cozy domesticity. Or start another character and play him or her with the understanding (or at least the assumption), that there will be no HF, no DG, no frickin' DLC EVER. But why the oblivion should I have to?!

Yes! Hearthfire is out for PC now, but no word on the PS3 version. They are still having the same problems with Hearthfire as they are with Dawnguard for the PS3, with their "not satisfied with performance". I'm picking this up on my PC for $4.99 as soon as I get home!

Got to agree... that's the worst of this situation... much as I still enjoy the game, every time I load it up (let alone every time I check these blasted forums), it's never without a chip on my shoulder. What once was an un-alloyed pleasure is now too often just a reminder of Beth's partiality between it's customers, and it's refusal to just admit (or even 'tweet') an admission of same.
If they could simply say "we're not going to give our PS3 customers any further content because it would be too complicated and therefore un-profitable to do so", then people could either shelve the game, or resolve to get what fun they can from the half-gimped product they have. Stringing folk along the way they've been doing is simply infuriating.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

QUOTE: When asked for a reason as to the PS3 delay, Hines replied, “The performance isn’t good enough in all cases. For most folks, it’d be fine. For some, it wouldn’t be.”

Well fine. Send me a copy anyway. I will accept the bugs. I will deal with the bugs. Oblivion's bells, if I have to I'll @#%$#@% ENJOY the bugs

after playing hearthfire for a day it's pretty clear to me that ps3 players aren't really missing out on much. as far as the ratio of content vs bugs goes it is without a doubt the buggiest most glitch filled piece of dlc bethesda has ever released. i am disabling it until a patch comes out, it has almost totally messed my game up (playable, but seriously compromised).

ps3 users have got the [censored] end of the stick from the start, and i'd be super pissed too, but as far as hearthfire goes, i'd say be careful what you wish for. it's a bugged out glitchy mess on pc, who knows what it will be like on ps3.

You and me both... I've been quietly saving up money and just going on random adventures - and toying with adding random stuff to my existing houses just to whet my appetite for Hearthfire... but I really REALLY don't know if I'll ever see it. =/

What we're "missing out on" is not a big DLC, but a meaningful one. If RPing is a car, HF allows us to replace its stock inline 4 with a much more satisfying turbocharged V-6. For non-RPing types, it's mildly interesting, but unexceptional.

Me too. My Nord is walking around with 150 iron ingots. My Imperial had a title and enough money and materials, but actually started the DB questline (which he had been hoping to avoid) so he could adopt. My Dunmer just wants to retire to Proudspire Manor with a couple kids and a dog. And even my Khajiit is thinking of doing some building.

Wow Bethesda. You are [censored]. I can't believe you let another [censored] up slip by. All I want is a DLC. Just one. Yet you can't even get a [censored] announcement for the PS3, just no comment. If the DLC for PS3 isn't free, I'm not getting it. You are the most piss poor developers I have ever seen.

Go on GTA-Forums where the people there have been waiting for close to a year for even a hint of a release date on GTA V or actual info since the trailer. The wait for your PS3 DLC won't be that along, I can assure you.

it took over 6 months to release the fallout dlcs on ps3 and those dlc's were virtually unplayable under 20 fps alot and froze every 5 minutes and now they are trying to make the skyrim dlc's "playable" i would put money on gta5 releasing before skyrim dlc ever releases on ps3
