Honestly I'm not enjoying Skyrim

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 8:12 am

I've been playing Skyrim for about 27 hours right now and honestly the game isn't so great. I have to say though that the game looks absolutely beautiful. Let me say some of my complaints before you guys attack me.

The main story is very underwhelming, haven't enjoyed it at all.The sidequests can also be pretty boring too, nothing to write about.

For the 27 hours all I have encountered were bugs on top of bugs even before I downloaded that damn patch. Now I can't walk to any other city or town without running into a bug and it can be really irritating.

The combat system as a whole is absolutely atrosious, not as bad as Oblivion, but its pretty bad. There is no reaction whatsover from whatever you hit. The magic system is reptitive and it looks ineffective. To think that combat which plays a huge role in the game, they would at least make it fun and not lazy looking.

The dungeons svck with a lot of them being the same and their sorry excuses for "puzzles" make Bethseda look really amateur. I stopped going to dungeons all together and whenever I see one, I just don't bother.

Dragons after killing one for the 20th time become a chore, now when I go town to town I fear running into a dragon, because its ruining my fun.

The only positive there is is the world, exploring can be a lot of fun, but its ruined by the repetitive dragon encounters.

All in all the games like a 7.5/10 atm but I'll play a little longer and see if my opinion changes

Damn man 27 hours is a long time to play a game and not enjoy it. Don't you have better things to do than play a game you don't enjoy

Okay, that's your opinion. I for one, as are many on this forum, am enjoying the game very much.

No obvious bugs, no complaints, tons of fun and 40+ hours gone.

I liked the game for the first 7 to 10 hours, but the more I played it the more I realized it wasn't as good as I thought. Plus I didnt play the full 27 hours, I left the game on sometimes when I went out or went on my laptop and some of those hours came from my brother who played the game for a while. So I probably played about 16 hours total.

But personally the game shouldn't get any Game of the Years, theres too many things that are holding it back from being something special. Personally Skyward Sword was a better overall experience for me, I guess it proves that a game with a smaller world and better gameplay is better then a game with a massive world and lazy gameplay.

*shrug* what can you do man? It's not your cup of tea. Maybe try dungeon diving? I found them especially rewarding. To be honest though you should probably move on. I've ran into plenty of games I haven't enjoyed and you better believe I knew I didnt enjoy them within the first hour so skyrim must of done something right

im wondering if you should start over....I've played more hours than you and my dragon encounters are few and far between. I spend more time off the path than on... so I could how non-stop attacks could be troubling (I assuming the frequency of encounters is tied to progress in the main quest). if you start over too...maybe you might have a better idea for a character now that you have some ingame experience.

op you are completely correct, I have put probably 75 hours into the game, and its WAYY more dull and boring than Oblivion, the quests are stupid and repetitive (walk to this guy, talk to him, walk to some other guy, talk to him, go to some cave, kill stuff, take it back to guy) and the questlines themselves are too short (you're the arch mage after 3 quests in the college...wut?) And the dragons are a HUGGGGGE letdown, now whenever I run into one im like omfg heres a minute ill never get back

lets be honest, Skyrim svcks

I must have played around 90 hours if you count all of my characters (completely unpatched, as I have no way of getting my xbox to go live)), and quite frankly, besides a few collision bugs (which are more hilarious than anything), and maybe a few crashes, I have yet to really see any bugs. Of course there's that texture issue, but I can cope with it

The game is as fun as you make it to be. I kinda half-roleplay, and I'm seriously having a blast. Can't wait to be back home to play it

Yeah this game svcks, I've played for 200 hours, levelled all my skills to 100 and finished every quest and I hated all of it.

The game is too damn hard on Master and the voice acting would be way better if Nolan North was in the game. The game is even worse with the dragons flying backwards.

I liked skyward sword better.

How in the world do you play a game for 27 hours and give it 7.5/10 and then say it isn't good?

Are you chained to a computer that only has this installed or something?

The main story does have its ups and downs but so far I quite like it.
Have you been to Black Reach?

If not, you're in for a treat...

in the off chance you aren't a troll... i'm not sure Bethesda was targetting someone who could play 200 hours in 19 days and Skyward Sword in the same time span.

I find it sad that people come here just to register and complain. When I don't like something I move on. I don't go pursue it and make everyone else come down to me. I also find it strange that for something you dislike so much you waste so much energy b&tching about it. Seriously, you have nothing better going on in your life?

and what did patch 1.02 even do? its like instead of patching the bugs, they just gave us new bugs and hoped the new ones would make us forget about the old ones
