I think the vast majority of us agree that dawnguard looks cool and "epic" for the most part. Some might think that some of it is aiming to be a little to much "epic" (undead purple flaming horse) but it's still cool for the most part.
Some of us care for the story though . A few might even know the lore and see problems with what has already established. Because Most people can see this as just a taking of ideas from Monster movies and throwing them into skyrim. Even things that should/could already be in the game (crossbows, Gargoyles, ugly vampires) seem to be added just because of how they are in these monster movies .
I agree with the ethereal purple steed of doom-thing... I don't like it. But don't act like you're the only one who cares about the story, 'cause
you are not. Believe you fudging me. Yes, it seems like that Bethesda is adding alot of classic horror elements to the game with this new
DLC. I love it. It's the first time they've actually gone for something genuinely scary. It's an homage to the ol' victorian horror elements, something
which I personally love. You might not, but we all have our own opinions.
Also note that i am not [censored]ing about how castles appear from nowhere. Skyrim isn't to scale so New additions to land don't make anything worse. (Also-solthstiem Could have been to scale whilst Morrowind's vardenfell certaintly isn;t. That means that on a map of tamriel solthstiem would be tiny.
For one thing- The dawnguard. Yes it could be an ancient secret order that nobody writes about.. But many of us tire of that bull . Logically it should be a branch/descendant/Nickname for an already existing Anti-dead/daedra order such as Vigilants of stendar, order of arkay, Virtuous blood or at least people who worship meridia or azura. Perhaps someone formed the group very recently- But ancient orders that we've never heard of can [censored] off.
Do you have ANY idea of how vast the TES-lore is? It's almost as comprehensive and mindblowing as the LOTR or SW-sagas. It is way too much
to ask of the dev-team to plan everything ahead of time, so I think you should just stop flapping your jaw and be thankful for this new DLC, AND the
new lore that comes with it. The Dawnguard seem to be dedicated to wiping out this particular order or branch of vampires, and not the Daedra, werewolves or "regular vampires", hence their name - the Dawnguard are dedicated to stopping them from blotting out the sun. New lore is added all the time, and I'm sure you'll get an explanation as to where they came from. It's not a very constructive way of viewing things - I think that Beth is
allowed some liberties, anachronistic as they may be.
As for vampires
Firstly- An explanation as to why a few members of the Volkihar (In books- Ugly Vampires who Live under the ice in frozen lakes. ) are good looking and live in a castle. Furthermore it is to be expected that Some of them DO live In/near these lakes. How would they Get prey on an island castle?
Secondly- The vampire lord transformation- Needs an explanation on why most vampires can't use it. An explanation on how it works. Is it illusion, alteration, a transformation spell that you can use without being a vampire?
Thirdly the bats- Tes Vampires aren't associated with bats whatsoever (can't imagine ice vampires being much different). Thus far conjuration has always been of a single daedra or spirit and a few have been able to summon a limited amount of animals. Conjuration is also supposed to be more difficult when in charge of multiple creatures. It could be illusion Magic. Perhaps a single entity of vearmina's plane (nightmare daedra) origin. But just bats are stupid.
Why are everyone so absolutely 100% sure that they are the Volkihar? The Volkihar is already in the game, minor as their part may be. These
new vampires seem must more closely related to the origin of vampires alltogether. Seeing as how they have a Molag Bal altar, and that their leader
is wearing a Molag Bal broche on his armor. These dudes are the minions of the father of all vampires, not some scrawny frost vampires who may or
may not live under the ice of frozen lakes. They can shapeshift, turn into bats and whatnot because that's just what Bethesda thinks they should be
able to do. I'm sure you'll get plenty of explanation when the DLC is released. There is some divine but dark powers at play here.
Would love some mithril, adamantium and werebear surprises. Perhaps a giant crab and dreugh. Those are in the lore! Surely giant crabs are more exciting than... Lots of things!!
