Hot Sauce

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 4:28 pm

There's a shop in Gatlinburg, TN called The Pepper Palace that sells all kinds of hot sauces and foods. They have a website where you can browse and order their wares, but I can't link to it here since quite a few of the sauces they sell are advlt-themed.

I've tried a single drop of a hot sauce with 6mil Scoville units rating. It literally took over an hour and 2 glasses of milk for my tongue and throat to stop burning from that. I tried it over at my sisters place when her husband dared me and my wife to try. Wife of course declined, but me being a svcker had to go for it. They've got a few pictures of tears coming out of my eyes from the heat. LOL

Also, I was just reading something the other day that said the Scorpion itself has been dethroned as of a few weeks or so ago, and someone else is already working on an even hotter pepper. Some experts predicted that in a decade we will have peppers themselves(not even extracts, just peppers) that reach the maximum amount of scoville units possible.

That would be it exactly! I'll have to remember that one for future use when discussing hot things tried.

As far as favorite pepper, me and my wife regularly consume jalapenos, and I'm pretty sure a pepper that's a small step above Jalapenos(not habaneros) we use in our version of the Steak Bowl that Taco Bell used to have on their menu before discontinuing it a few years ago. We use spicy refried beans, Cayenne, paprika, cumen, and garlic alongside the pepper that I cannot remember.

I love hot sauce. I bought some ghost pepper salsa and it gives me a pretty good flame. I'm not afraid to try anything spicy (except I'll probably pass on that stuff that gives you chemical burns :P)

... Can... Can you send me some...

@expresate - where do you live? I live in SoCal and my boss makes 'Daves Hot Sauce'. It is the hottest hot sauce I've ever tasted and is made from multiple peppers including the Ghost Pepper. I put it on everything from soups and salads to fish and cow.

Unfortunately, my sisters husband is the one who had it, and they have since split and are no longer on speaking terms, so I'd be unable to snag any from him, or even find out where he got it from. Otherwise I'd happily help ya out ^^ I find it fun(though a bit nuts) to try super hot stuff, and I like to encourage others to do it as well.

Probably the lamb phaal from the local Indian, the curry that's "one hotter than a vindaloo". It's generally not too evil to start with, but kind of creeps up on you, and a whole plateful can be quite an endurance.

Obviously being the main meal in itself it's not as hot as the bottled sauces you can get. I'm not sure of the hottest, but probably not that hot. I like something that can liven up a cheese sandwich, so I'm not looking for over-the-top hotness anyway, so something like Tabasco will do the job.

I'm living in western Canada, currently.

Then you haven't tried the really hot stuff. That was the case with me until I had the Naga Jolokia.

My uncle literally eats ghost pepper spread on toast for breakfast. I'm convinced he has no pain receptors or taste buds left in his body. We all know that if he's eating something at a family gathering, you do NOT want to share. My cousin made the mistake of snagging some of his popcorn once... I promise you, if he ever stops twitching he'll never do it again.

As for me, I like some spice, but not much. I'll put habenaro sauce on raman noodles or eat green curry or whatever, but I'm a pretty big sissy if it's too hot. I have no desire to try a ghost pepper.

So hot its hot for no reason other than to talk about. So hot it doesn't even have a good taste. I ate those chicken wings though, just so I could say I did.

The other day my buddy and his gf was arguing over hot sauce. It was so funny. She was all "I take all this time to cook this food and you just drench it in hot sauce. Every time."
I'm trying not to laugh too loud right now thinking about it. Ppl r trying to sleep

I have seen birds eating these http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pequin_pepper almost daily. Quite and interesting scene. That kind of peppers has a nice flavour.

Anyway, the variety of peppers and sauces that I have tasted is large but not large enough, I still have much to taste. One of my favorites is this one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serrano_pepper , both raw or in some kind of sauce.

I'm just addicted to Texas Pete for the flavor. I'll mix regular with the hotter version to get the flavor and spicy levels I want.

I don't really give a damn about any other hot things.

I do like to pile up a bunch of Doritos and put shredded cheese all over it, microwave it, and put jalapenos on it. Makes for a sixy snack.

I haven't had/heard of that. Salsa was my favorite but I haven't seen them in years. I just end up sticking with regular.

I have observed something interesting with people that eat spicy peppers, including me. We react in different ways to the same kind of pepper. For example, my father can eat raw or prepared habanero peppers and he doesn't feels anything (besides its flavour of course), then he eats a Serrano pepper and he can't stand its spiciness; I am the opposite, whenever I eat an habanero I start to feel the effect of its spiciness, but when I eat a Serrano, I don't feel anything. Still not sure why that happens.

My dad used to grow the pequin in the back yard until my brother mowed them down combined with a frost that killed them off completely .

I dislike hot sauce due to vinegar.

My preferred pepper is Cayenne which I usually put in everything I cook

There is a shop here in Mentor that sells spicy things (sauces, dry rubs, etc.). One of my favorite things there is called "Zombie Boogie". It works great when grilling chicken or seafood.

That being said, I tend to avoid super spicy since I prefer to taste my food and when there is too much spiciness my taste buds shut down.

Taco bell should make some shells out of the habanero flavored Doritos. Those actually are good. I just probably couldn't handle them since I'm not some crazy 5th grader who has to try everything spicy that won't kill me anymore. Used to put hot sauce on rice when I ate it and put it on everything. Now I'm somehow old at the age of 18 and need citrus drinks when I am eating anything with spice levels higher than the very boring kind of hot sauce. Louisiana hot sauce was something I use constantly during my spicy food phase.

I did learn that sharing isn't always caring, though. Don't give other people your habanero flavored chips. They will react with pain. They were just curious and I said, "Sure, why not."

Now sour food, I have never grown out of that.
