Habanero isn't even that hot. Try a Ghost Chili Pepper. Now that is some hot [censored]!

It's too hot for me. I like some heat, but I still like to enjoy it.

A bhut jolokia would probably take my breath away and cause me to asphyxiate. If I do manage to survive my bowels would probably never be the same again.

I love spicy foods, and always have a few different types of hot sauces in my kitchen. It's great as there are hardly any calories in it, and goes with pretty much everything. Hell, I even put it in my scrambled eggs once.

I've never had any of the really spicy ones, as they're quite hard to get hold of here. I do have a bag of whole, dried Ghost Chilis in the cupboard though. No idea what to do with them. I've been tempted to just bite into one whole, out of curiousity, but after seeing a number of Youtube videos, and hearing that it can actually tear a hole in your stomach lining, I might give that a miss. :P

The spiciest thing I've ever had is whatever they hell the put in their food in Thailand.

I don't like spicy though so I tend not to partake. Makes my nose run too much, which is annoying when I'm not at home, and I don't think it adds anything in terms of flavor.

Hot sauce in scrambled eggs is amazing. I probably couldn't handle a ghost chili. They are called ghost chilis for a reason.

I've been to a place that has hot wings that are so spicy that you have to sign a waiver to eat them. I put 1 near my open mouth and choked as I inhaled the spicy fumes, the actual bite was way worse :P

Personally I love spicy food but that level of spice is just for fun to try as you can't really enjoy it

Is there anybody else here who gets severe hiccoughs from eating very spicy food? It's a symptom I'm usually plagued by, generally to the amusemant of onlookers. At least my girlfriend is sympathetic. Actually, she's not. At all.

I don't follow the significance of the name... What reason are they called that for that would have anything to do with your not being able to handle them?

The actual name for the pepper is bhut jolokia. The bhut jolokia is actually from India, surprisingly.

Ghosts. I was joking about if the name comes from something involving death.

Ah, too bad that those plants died, powdered Pequin is a nice condiment for some foods.

Most of the sauces that I have tasted do not contain vinegar, although I do not dislike it. How does the Cayenne pepper tastes? I have never tasted that pepper.

That sometimes happens to me too, the spicier the food is, the stronger the hiccup gets. Still not sure why that happens.

I like certain hot flavors with a bit o' burn, but I'm not into serious hot pain, so I haven't had anything that would impress anyone. ;) It's not how much the mouth burns that I find tasty/attractive. A little brow sweat during the meal is good, having to run to the fridge to drink a gallon of milk and wanting to cut off your tongue when the milk doesn't work, not so much.

I wonder what happens if you get some bhut jolokia in your eye. I hope no one has been stupid enough to rub their face after having eaten one.

But that's half the fun!

The other half is the ride to the hospital.

Having all that hot come out the other end some hours later isn't very fun, tho. :ahhh:

...one time I did rub an eye while eating tacos/jalapenos, and that was enough to have me cryin'. Can't imagine it with one of the worse peppers, heh. I tend to like red pepper (like in Asian foods) and jalapeno's (stir fry's/tacos)...and add them to soups and other things. I think I had more of a digestive-tolerance for super spicy when younger then I do now. Still love the flavor, tho. :)

Had to throw myself in the shower when cayenne pepper got in my eye.

It would be very, very, very bad. It's strongly advised that you wash your hands thoroughly after handling any kind of hot peppers.

Yeah, I can understand that. I was so unfortunate to get Tabasco in my eye once, and that was more than a little painful. I can't imagine how it would be to get bhut jolokia in them. *_*

I don't really eat hot sauce much anymore, but do love my peppers, chili's mostly, but I also love jalapeno's and habanero peppers. Not surprisignly, all three go into my salsa whenever I decide to get up off my lazy butt and cook it. I was dumb enough to rub my eyes after chopping a bunch of habaneros once while making my salsa, that was not a fun experience. Ever since then, I go soak my hands under water for several minutes and wash with soap and water several times before I let my fingers get anywhere near my face.
