I think this goes back to their design philosophy behind ESO. They're trying to make a themepark, PvP focused mmo experience in the Elder Scrolls Universe. They aren't really going for a sandbox or "sandpark" experience, which is why they don't seem to be prioritizing things like housing or a crime / morality system.

It's not a BAD route to take, just not one I'm particularly interested in.

As long as they finish everything else they need to do housing can come, otherwise you end up with the (NDA) First person mode which is (NDA) and a big (NDA) of time, as you can tell I'm (NDA) of the (NDA)

But I can honestly say trying to incorporate the first person mode into an awareness based game is silly and that's something I decided long before I signed the NDA.

Housing is very important. It is also very doable with phasing, if you don't mind immersion breaking. The immersion breaking part would mean you would see people disappear when they enter their house area. I could accept that.

Another option is to have static houses in the world that you can buy. Have the door be an instance entrance. The downside there is you might have 5 people going in your house, but inside they are all in their own version of it. I like this idea because the houses would actually be in the world.

Last option is to have a zone that is a player town. The zone would be instanced and tied to your campaign. There would be space for evetyone in a campaign. You wouldn't see other campaign's houses, those would be in their own instance. This would build community in the individual campaigns. You would literally fight in Cyrodil alongside your neighbors.

Customizable housing is a must, at least internally. Walls and everything.

I'll be really happy if they were to say they will add housing in the future :-)

I agree, and I think when they do put in housing it will be on a larger scale, like the Rift, who also did not have housing at launch, so not being in at launch does not mean not ever. Plus it might come as part of some paid expansion, DLC what ever you want to call it these days.. At least I hope so, time will tell..:)

I really hope they don't make us pay more for housing as an expansion or addon. That'd just be cheap.

Seems highly unlikely considering the sub fee, only absolute major expansions possibly expanding the story once majority of people are level cap will probably cost money (like TBC)

Bethesda thought housing was important enough that they introduced an addition to SKYRIM to provide it.

Housing is a big plus for me and I would love to see it..once they get Elder Scrolls Online shaped onto a world class Elder Scrolls game.

there is a chance the houses come with an expansion but it wont be the only thing in it if it does. personally i think housing will be made available for all due to the sub fee

i personally like that there will no be housing at launch. i much rather them focus on the really important stuff and worry about the fluff post launch

I think a good start is a rented room at inns. just a place to call home for a while. if they stuck with that idea they could leave all the buildings in cities as is, but instal portals at stairwells so it was more like condos in town. As strange as it seems that is the way a lot of people lived in RW history.

I have been asking for this for many months, and am also surprised by the lack of housing in ESO. I have spent large amount of hours into my houses starting in Morrowind, continuing through Oblivion and Skyrim, so I'm restating my desire here for housing of any type. Even a Guild Hall in a civilized area (not a keep you can lose tomorrow) would be great, and have far more value to the players than say, fishing. So I'm sure they are planning to do something housing related in the future.

I hope they do in the future put player housing, it doesn't have to be at launch at least do it in an expansion.

Yup, also not as much of a money sink if its account or faction-linked.
