So How is Dawnguard Going To Be Updated?

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 6:27 pm

Whose pouting? I'm being realistic based on past experience. I have accepted reality, I will not put up false hope it will be different this time. None of my Bethesda DLC has been patched before so I have no reason to believe it will be different this time.

To be fair, this is the first time they've made a "beta" for the 360. We're just hoping that it was, indeed, a beta. Especially considering that I'm relatively sure my copy of Dawnguard is identical to yours.

I'd love an optional quest that allows you to scale down/remove the vamp attacks or provides better AI to the NPC's and allows them to run away instead of running in head first.

Well seeing as they pretty much sold us the copy the beta testers used I certainly hope they're going to find a way to patch it...

Otherwise that was just a waste of money really... :sadvaultboy:

Actually, Shivering Isles did get patched, there were two versions of the 1.2.04 patch, and the game would download one if you lacked SI, and one if you had it.

There we go, problem solved, next question?

All I want fixed in Dawnguard, really, is that Vampire Lord is butchered when Serana is with you. I've accepted that she can't be married, and decided that we basically already are. And the Castle is rather nice as it is, for me anyway. They could afford to spruce the Garden up a bit though... Was kinda hoping that would turn into something beautiful.

I imagine Bethesda is finishing the final touches on the Patch and will release it as soon as they decide it's ready. It would make sense if they held off a bit just in case us regular joes found anything to add.

I heard they have to pay 40k dollars per patch to Microsoft, so I doubt it will be ready anytime soon (if ever) They will want to collect more bug data before trying to fix anything.

Maybe in the future they'll try and do that before releasing their product. :P

Well seeing as they had the two weeks of beta and didn't fix anything I would certainly hope they have a patch almost figured out.

Then again I think I'm being overly optimistic, may have to put down Skyrim playing for another eight months again...

look at the references.

Yeah the patch in refernces is just talking about the patch that everybody got before the expansion came out, same as the one we got for Dawnguard. There were no other patches that I have been able to find.

I hear that. I'm going to have to either uninstall DG for the time being or just quit playing for awhile.

I uninstall it if I want to play my lower level characters, but then reinstall it because I get the urge to play my vampire lord. I'll have to go back to an earlier save on that character to truly enjoy the DLC though.

See "1.2.0416" with its two versions, one for SI and one for non-SI

Was definitely made after SI was released, as it fixed a crucial game breaking bug SI introduced.

I want my wife's appearance to be changed after I turned her into a vampire. She's a vampire for sithis' sakes, she should look like one.

They have to be able to patch DG. If not then what was the point of the BETA? Unless it wasn't really a BETA and just a glorified demo...

That update was for Oblivion, not Shivering Isles. Same if the 1.6 patch for Skyrim had version for users with Danwguard and without Dawnguard. Lord Vulkodlak is correct, based on past behaviour there's not gonna be a Dawnguard patch, so don't go holding your breaths.

A lot of what people are asking for here as a patch fix is basically extra content. I would imagine we'd see more bug fixes than new stuff. I was (pleasantly) aquite surprised by getting new stuff in the previous patches, tbh.

They said they would get tricked out, and over the course of the Dawnguard main quest they do automatically. It was misleading, yes, but not a lie.

What's funny is most people act like this is the first time bethesda has done this.

I just wish they would fix the ability to pick up items to decorate with and not have them turn upside down....very frustrating.... :wallbash:

I'm thinking the beta was for 2 things mainly one is to build hype for it and the other was to look for anything really gamebreaking. Like if one of the beta testers said "My game won't load anymore since I installed it." they would of put off the release most likely but they seem to expect the little quirks and don't aim for perfect releases. Plus there is always people who don't like something in a game or dlc and want it removed/changed so now they know. Perhaps it won't happen again. But short of your xbox's exploding, overheating, or otherwise ceasing to work from it, at this point your not likely to get a patch.

Honestly, the only thing that's keeping me from playing is the Vampire attacks. I know not everyone has this issue, but I'm not even willing to load my save anymore because I'm tired of stumbling on to groups of corpses that were apparently killed without me even knowing, or suddenly getting quest failed updates because some quest giver got killed.

EDIT: Anyone tried asking Bethesda through their Twitter account?

Sounds like a decent idea.

Do you know if there's a way to uninstall a DLC without deleting it? I dont want to have to download it every time I want to play my DG or my VL
