How did you come to join this community?

I lurked around as a guest from about 2008 until I finally joined in 2012 to talk about Skyrim and mosey around the New Vegas forums.

What is this "A-bomb" many of you are mentioning?

That′s the glitch where fire and spell animation slows down to a stutter. Even doors do this when the A-bomb has hit the floor.

Khajiit has never experienced this?

It's a counter used by Oblivion to do something important. Once it eventually overflows, which is an inevitability after playing for long enough, the animation slows from the usual 20-60 fps to maybe one or two fps, making the game unplayable.

It was apparently quite simple to fix and modders quickly did so for the PC, but console players weren't so fortunate as Bethesda never implemented the fix.

Hmmm, I feel like I would remember encountering something like this but I can't say. Maybe I did but just forgot? Or maybe I never played one character long enough.

That could be. It hits most people at around the 300-500 hour mark. I believe that playing at higher framerates causes it to kick in earlier than lower framerates also.

Here is a short video demonstrating the bug: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTrz6j_MkT8

I joined these forums when I heard about oblivion before release and I was obsessed with morrowind. Then I stayed until maybe a year after oblivion and sort of disconnected from here.

Then I came back for fallout 3's release but forgot my account. And I stayed until just after new Vegas and sort of disconnected from the community again.

Then when skyrim was announced I rejoined that night to talk about it (because I again forgot my login id).

But then I decided to stop following skyrim as closely as I followed oblivion (because I was burned by the cut features from oblivion that were advertised before hard so I didn't want to know much about skyrim).

And after skyrim came out, I came back here and forgot my login id again, so I created yet another new one, and made sure I wouldn't forget this time, and have been here since.

I would probably have left awhile ago if community discussion wasn't here, especially after fallout got taken away from the forums, as that's where I spent most of my time.

The first time I ever posted on gamesas was when they got the license for Fallout, and there was a gigantic internet something-storm for about a week. At that time I was advocating for Fallout to become something like Full Spectrum Warrior, a 3D MOUT game of squad level tactical urban combat. I thought of Fallout as tactical at that time.

When I got involved here and racked up the post count was in the run up to Skyrim. Morrowind was a very important game to me and I was psyched for Skyrim. I backed the vision for Skyrim and was not disappointed in the least. Still playing it actually!

Saw that there were cool peeps in Community Discussion and kept coming back.

I felt like this was a pretty warm inclusive non-judgemental place where people could be honest and not have to front. Lots of intelligent posters.

Internet in general is darker since then I feel.

I was really heavy into Oblivion when it first came out and wanted to talk about it, and the rest is history.

Do we know how long this site has left? Months, years? It's a very sad thought, in any case

There was a massive glitch with New Vegas. I called up the support, and then weeks later joined here

Not a clue. As late as last month they were still in the process of choosing new forum software.

Back in August 2015 they told us we would be transitioning to the new forums within a week. If they continue at this rate of speed, I expect we will not make the move until late 2017 or early 2018.

I was looking for an elven helm.

Never did find it. Turns out they're levelled.

In retrospect, the elven helms are hideous.

In retrospect, the entire set is hideous. :P I feel like a were-grasshopper in it.

I stumbled upon this by mere accident. Don't even know why I joined, I was fairly against making any accounts, so this was the first account I ever made on the internet. To think I'm here for 9 years, holy crap! This is by far my longest relationship. No wonder my girlfriend is jelly.

I can vaguely remember perusing the official Fallout website only for the vault boy forum icon to catch my eye... I still regret clicking on it to this day... :p

Looked up Elder Scrolls Roleplay when I was in Elementary.

"Wow, this Solsteim RP seems REALLY cool!"

"Wow, wait a second. You can just write stories based in the universe on here?! WOW! I GOTTA MAKE AN ACCOUNT."

"I'll write a story about some [censored] named Ken who walks around a post apocalyptic Cyrodil (this was before Fallout 3 made the series popular, so I had no clue about it.) "

And for ten years, I have watched as a place I call home became filled with strangers wearing familiar faces. The ways of our people cast aside and abandoned, in favor of royal decrees that we never agreed to. Once respectable leaders of our community, bending the knee and willfully swallowing the poison of cowards too weak willed to fight by tongue and blade! Cravens the lot of them.

I Am one who still stands on his two feet, and this captain shall never surrender his Black sails, for to Hand them over to the harbingers of this new age will have made all those time then 4 nothing! Captain goes down with the ship, even as it burns, for it is and forever shall be his home, YARGHHHHH!
