I suppose "it's my name" isn't going to convince anyone. Oh well, too bad.

I was the only kid my highschool who knew how to use photoshop and illustrator thoroughly at the age of 13. Because I knew how to use these programs, i'd often make ridiculous designs for small things like peoples birthdays, school events or just a flyer for people to watch me and my friends jam at my house.

People started calling me Mike designs.

I used it on myspace like a musician would name himself, and a lot of clients and people just started referring to me by it, so it kind of stuck. For cool kids sake I renamed it to MikeDzines as it seemed the immature and myspacey thing to do.

Velorien is the name of the ancient god of life and death in Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. In the game, the player has to go around giving offerings to all of the various gods in a specific order and it's basically a giant puzzle. Velorien is the last god on that list, to which the player must give the offering of their own life. If the player does not do things in the correct order and attempts to give the sacrifice to Velorien, the player will simply die. If done in the correct order, the player will be resurrected and given an awesome blessing.

I've always thought it was a cool androgynous-sounding name, plus "Vel" is a great shortened version. I originally used it for my World of Warcraft character, then the name just stuck.

An homage to the Fallout trilogy.

Basic story- years ago I was signing-up to a website that I frequented at the time and instead of using my 'real' name or some-such of, I wanted a 'cool' name. All of the names that I tried to use were already taken, so I clicked on a little box that would generate a name and when it asked for key words, I put in 'sword', 'phantom', and 'seeker'. It popped out five names, the second of which was 'swrdphantom', so I thought, that'll work.
I've been using it since then. :shrug:

I did have a BS story of my screenname's origin, but I can't remember it now. :hehe:

I'm a pretty big fan of Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd, particularly while he was still the frontman. I took the name Barrett and Floyd (since they're commonly known as that), then mashed them together till I got this name.

It was the name of a character I played in some game. Didn't really plan to stick around so I didn't put much thought into it.

Did you try Pink Syd?

Sort of elite stealth Dragoon squad or something similar due to tons of RTS titles. The two 00's so it'd stand out more, usage of the keyboard more often and be easier to remember. The 2019 from BLADE RUNNER, one of my all time favourite films and games.

My little brother came up with the name because we had a giant collection of thumbtacks (tons of posters and things to hand on the wall over the years), so when he received his 360 he wanted to us to have matching names, and that's how he came up with Thumbtack Jake/Josh. I just kept using it the last couple of years.

Now why didn't I think of that. So much better than that crappy name I chose. :teehee:
