How To Make a Vendor

- Make item (e.g. A sword). (Items>weapons>New)
- Make a container. (WorldObjects>Container>New)
. Drag your sword into the inventory of the container.
- Make a Item list. (Misc>Formlist>New)
- Drag the sword from the objects list on the left into your new item list. (Edit your List)
- Make a faction. (Character>Faction>New)
. Set up the faction as a vendor (Vendor Tab in Edit Faction)
.. Set the vendor to use your custom container.
... Set the vendor to use your custom list.
- Create an NPC and in the faction tab select your faction (RightClick>New>YourFaction)

Im just missing that one last instruction. That is unless Baratan is dikeing with me because I cant find that option anywhere.

OK. I followed Bartan's instructions to the T and the NPC I made still won't talk to me.

I really don't think I did. Double and triple checked. I'll be interested to see that video when it's done.

If you're not missing anything, why are you asking for help on the topic? :ermm:

It's in the vendor logic. It's 1 when the conditions are met. Which are, at least, being within the range of the specific location.

If you follow the clicks in the video (Once it's finished uploading) you'll have a fully working merchant NPC. Except you DaMuncha, you're not welcome to view my video.

You don't need audio since I am not making an noise, and the compression is almost flawless. When viewing the video in 1080p HD it's almost exactly the same as it appeared on my desktop. Frankly, I don't care if you can view it anyway. I didn't make it for you.

So we're back to square one.

Does anyone else know how to make a vendor?

Im hitting my head against a brick wall here guys.

When exactly did you change that option in the video cause I cant see what your talking about.

*watches video*

The answer is: No you still have no idea how to do it, you just copy/pasted another vendor and changed his name.

Thats not what were asking.

It still isn't working for me. I've followed the instructions, watched the video, when I get in game and press E my NPC just says random things like "Yeah", "What", "You need something". Never does any dialog appear asking to see what's for sale or a trade window never comes up.

Thanks for the help Baratan BTW not trying to sound rude, just been at this all day and getting frustrated.

Great video Baratan, I followed it exactly and it worked perfectly for me.
And Damuncha, if you would shut your mouth and show some respect, I'm sure people would be more willing to help you. Until then, you're just gonna have to rely on mommy to help you mod...

Don;t worry, I am almost done with a second video showing the same thing. I re did the process and added captions this time and made sure I didn't skip explaining anything. I tested it in-game right after I did it and it did work perfectly.

The problem I have with copying/making another NPC is theres no way to delete my old NPC. I can remove him from the game world, but I cant remove him from my mod. and he uses up a reference number, and makes a clone of him self.

I had this problem alot with my Improved Child NPC mod, which is why I vowed it would be my first and last mod I'll ever make for the Oblivion CS. there were many copys of the same NPC and each of those copies overwrote an existing NPC in the game, and lets just say it was very messy and very frustrating. and now it seems the CK has the same problem.

So I would like to keep my exiting NPC I have made and be able to open a dialogue with him and trade with him. Surely there is a way to do it but noone knows how.

The CK has no such problem.

Oh yes it does. Try deleting a NPC or a change you have made. You cant do it. It just keeps your origional and makes a duplicate of it with a *, then if you delete that, it makes a diplicate of it and adds a **.

You can load up your mod and those entries are still there, only now u have 3 copies of the same NPC and still no way to undo it.

Another user fixed my NPC mod for me and removed those entries by using TES4Edit. But for Skyrim thats just not an option.

Actually, you can remove entries from your .esp. In fact, you have been able to do it since Morrowind. You probably just haven't figured out a polite enough way to ask.

Anyway I dont want to remove my NPC this time. I just want to find out a way to make my existing NPC talk to me and sell me things, as I explained in the Origional Post.

Whee! I did it! I did it! I made an existing NPC sell like she was SUPPOSED TO!!!!

Ok, Garakh, the blacksmith in Largashbur, is a vendorblacksmith but won't sell you anything. So I dug a bit and found out she has no local blacksmith faction and no chest. So I copied the faction from Shuftharz (Mor Khazgur vendorblacksmith), cheating by using Shuftharz's chest for Garakh (just wanted to get it working first!)

So I go in game, and still no vendor dialogue. :banghead: I've been at this for friggin' hours!!!!!

Okay, go back into CK - I KNOW it's got to be somewhere in dialogue. So I dig a bit and find out it's NOT in dialogue at all, it's back on the factions tab!!!! There is a proximity check that has top be made before a vendor will sell from a chest. So I set the Location (it's a button on the faction page, vendor tab) to Near self, and VOILA!!! SHE'S A MERCHANT!!!!!!

Okay, to reiterate: On the NPC's screen, go to the factions tab, double-click on the faction "services***" for your selling faction (in my case, it was my new ServicesLargashburBlacksmith faction I made). On the vendor tab, click the Location button. Set it to NEAR SELF. Done!

***** BE SURE YOU ADD YOUR NPC TO THE FACTION!!! *****

Now I just need to make her her own chest.
