How do I Make a Merchant.

How To Make a Vendor

- Make item (e.g. A sword). (Items>weapons>New)
- Make a container. (WorldObjects>Container>New)
. Drag your sword into the inventory of the container.
- Make a faction. (Character>Faction>New)
. Set up the faction as a vendor (Vendor Tab in Edit Faction)
.. Set the vendor to use your custom container.
... Set the vendor to use a vendor list e.g. VendorBlacksmith.
- Create an NPC and in the faction tab select your faction (RightClick>New>YourFaction)

Make sure JobMerchant and/or Jobblacksmith factions are in the faction list for the NPC or your NPC will not sell you anything.

Baratan made a useful totorial video showing you how to make a copy of an existing NPC and make him a new vendor.

I haven't tested this for certain yet, but I think a possible way is to set your NPC's class to one of the Vendor types? Adrienne, for instance, is a VendorBlacksmith, and Belethor a VendorPawnbroker.

There's also merchant factions... those may be important.

Your best bet is to clone an existing merchant NPC (like the aforementioned Adrianne) and edit from that base.

Just changing the class of your NPC to a Vendor is pretty simple. Open the edit window for your NPC. Go to the Stats tab. Down near the bottom right hand side is the Class dropdown menu. Select the type of Vendor you want your NPC to be.

Dialogue...is harder. (I haven't ventured far into that part yet.)

Actually it looks like Factions is indeed what you need to change. AdrianneAvenicci has a faction called ServicesWhiterunWarmaidens. In that faction is all the data about her vendor chest and what hours the store is open.

If the merchant's not attached to a store, though, is it possible for just the class part to enable them to sell you whatever's in their inventory? I closed the CK and don't want to wait around 10 minutes for it to finish opening again :P :D

I tried this too, basically the whole Evening.

Here is what I know:

Every Merchant in the Game has a Chest. Those Chests are neither linked to an Actor nor a Faction.
Each Merchant in the Game has a Faction. Those Factions link to the Chest.

But I really can't see how it activates the dialogues. I did not find any scripts related to that attached to the Merchants I checked.
At least nothing obvious.
Tried to make my own faction and added a chest, linked it, but does not work so far.

How do I create a faction?

How do I create chest and link it to the faction?

How do I create dialoge?

(the dialogue totorial on the wiki allready has half the work done when that totorial starts, making the tutorial useless)

Ok I found out how to make a faction and set it as a vendor faction, then selected a custom "Kontent Kontainer" chest behind my NPC. I have also set my NPC to the same faction "Kontent Advisory Kommittee". Now I just have to put my sword in the chest and make my NPC sell whats in the chest.

I need to know how to make a buy/sell list and to make my NPC sell whats on that list?

The easiest thing to do is just dupe a merchant.

When you click on their existing faction (such as belethorwhiterunmerchant or whatever), alter the name and press okay. The CK will ask if you want to save it as a new ID. Do so. Then you're automatically both made a new faction specifially for your merchant, but you've also saved it and applied it to them all in one step. Then you just change what appears in their shop via the faction options.

I found out that you need to add the dialogue option manually by how it looks.
But the dialogue-system is really complicated. I need to dig into this first.

Ok, This is what I figured out.

- Make a Sword. (Items>Weapons>New)
- Make a container. (WorldObjects>Container>New)
. Drag your sword into the inventory of the container.
- Make a Item list. (Misc>Formlist>New)
- Drag the sword from the objects list on the left into your new item list. (Edit your List)
- Make a faction. (Character>Faction>New)
. Set up the faction as a vendor (Vendor Tab in Edit Faction)
.. Set the vendor to use your custom container.
... Set the vendor to use your custom list.
- Create an NPC and in the faction tab select your faction (RightClick>New>YourFaction)

Your New Sword is now in the chest and your NPC is now a vendor and will sell you things from your list when I find out how to start dialogue.

Of course I did it the wrong way around.

I made a merchant.

Make an NPC and drop him in the world. Easiest thing to do is open an existing NPC and change his ID to create a new NPC.
Make a new Faction. Easiest thing to do is open one of the many per-existing vendor factions and change the FORMID to create a new faction.
Edit your new faction's vendor tab. Specify a location and a container.

That's all there is to it.

It is that easy. I actually just did it. The only thing an NPC needs to offer service dialogue is to have their internal offering services flag set to 1. This is accomplished by having that NPC in a faction which enables the internal offering services flag when in proximity to the chosen reference.

Which tab is what under? In the Faction Edit window, the Vendor tab is it's own tab, its the one farthest to the right.
