How Many Factions would have been ideal for you in Skyrim?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:55 am

I should be able to pledge true allegiance to the DB and wage war with the other guilds and become KOS to these other guilds. I should be able to dismantle or build up all guilds. I should be able to join the Silverhands or the Companions with a true reputation system. At certain benchmarks and ranks new opportunities and features open up. I should be able to play the game and do everything and remain neutral. I should be able to pledge allegiance to say Windhelm or Solitude and absolutely demolish the other city. I should also be able to have the option of building my own guild and guildhall and become a Jarl of my own city and be hostile with EVERYONE or form alliances.

I'd like to join the temples, or at least do some quests for them. With the level of Stendarr members roaming about I was hoping I'd be able to help them in some way.

About as many as Morrowind so a dozen or so joinable
Daggerfalls were too bland (one counties knights were exactly the same as another counties apart from the name) for the huge amount of factions in DF to be appealing but Telvanni were very different to Mages Guild, Tribunal Temple very different to Imperial Cult etc

This is what I want, I really wish they would bring back the houses. Or something like it.

Would like the present ones expanded and fleshed out, and at least 5 or 6 more--Bards, Temples, Thalmor--something especially for Khajiit, Orcs, Argonians.

Off the top of my head? 'bout 10 would do me.

There's so many factions that you can't join though such as the Thalmor and the Forsworn, etc. So it would be nice if they expanded upon those in future DLC/expansions. Plus more cults and daedra worshipping\hunting!

You have the Orc strongholds in Skyrim... They should be used more. Have stronghold conflicts, or be able to quest for leadership of stronghold(s).

Being able to join the bandits, people like that idea?

Yeah ilke this idea, i posted a similar idea before. It'd be good to have a territory type system where you take over bandit forts and can recruit followers to fight for that faction.

Limitations are bad becuase you can't accurately roleplay your character. Some people like to join all the guilds or some like to join 3 specific guilds.

Now for my opinion on the current topic, Skyrim could use more factions especially a Necromancer guild. More is always better but that's only if they are good. Under Skyrim's guild system it's not good it's basically fetch quest galore.

I disagree with this. I think faction/guild limitations are good. I like it if there are certain requirements in order to joing a guild or faction. Ypu shouldn't be able to knock on the door and automatically be accepted. I think that you should have to acheive a certain amount of goals or skills to be accepted.

I'm quite happy imposing my own limits on my characters whilst others have the freedom to join everything if they want to.

I'd like another Fighter's Guild, without werewolves.

Vigilants of Stendarr, because they are cool.

I do wish you could join every faction, but that would probably end up with crappy questlines.

They're already rather crappy. :ermm:
Most of them have good stories, but you end up doing the same thing every time, only with differerent themes.

I think it would be nice to be able to join more factions like the Vigilants of Stendarr or the Thalmor. Also, the factions you choose to join should affect your ability to join other factions (choices have consequences). I think it would also be nice if you could get kicked out of guilds for doing wrong (as far as I know, you can't in Skyrim but I'm not 100% sure on that). I'm also all for longer faction quest lines - you become head honcho in some of the guilds far too quickly and easily.

About 5 groups of concurrent factions like Morrowind's houses (2-3 politics, 2-3 religious, 2-3 assassins, 2-3 thieves, 2-3 traders....) Mutually exclusive, emphasis on politics, choices and consequences, long questlines, not being leader of all at once, detailed guild management when you're leader ,etc...

That's the thing, i don't want to have to set up my own rules. The rules should be built into the game.

Yep, or just small raids on local villages and mines would be cool.

The Reach is ours!!

The total number of factions inside the game is fine. However, the number of quests and length of your character's progreesion within each faction is not.

That's what a lot of players (including myself) have a beef with.
This. I'd love if there was a lot more low-rank missions for each guild. That way it'd feel like I earned my way higher in the guild. But I'm invited to a super powerful group in a guild for simply punching two women to the group and fetching a shard of something.

I would have liked the current Factions to have been better, rather than having more shallow factions. I expect DLC will allow us to join more factions, or at least have more information on certain factions, like the Forsworn and Thalmor.

I wish all of them were longer, but my list would be:

Companions
Thieves' Guild
College of Winterhold
Dark Brotherhood
Bards' College
Blades/Penitus Oculatus
Greybeards.

When I say factions, I also mean that they should be joinable and have +15, detailed quests in their questline; along with ranking and not progressing from an apprentice to the master of the guild in a few hours.
