How do I uninstall the Skyrim texture pack DLC?

It's stupid how they made it automatic and it should be optional. Steam shouldn't download the DLC every time you delete it off your drive.

Had a response from steam ..

No mention of implementing an easy removal method for everyone without having to raise a steam support ticket though.

I just received the same exact wording on my request for a way NOT to remove the DLC, but to do a re-install of the game without re-downloading the DLC.. It seems that any questions about DLC, remove the DLC from account and send account holder a boiler-plate message. Well, I replied to that message, so we'll see...

Online support has such quality these days ;)

Anyway I'll message Steam as well. Just have to do it once and get rid of 3GB of useless stuff I'll never use.

Just make a backup of the files on your PC and then have them remove it from your account --- at that point you have a local copy of the files that you can install like any other mod and NO STEAM redownloading it any time you reinstall the game since as far as steam is concerned you do not have the DLC.

There's also V4NO's excellent work without any of the associated bethesda original problems, including Krist2 and Hionimi's work http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1346421-relz-bethesdas-hi-res-dlc-optimization/
Installable as loose files or BSAs.

Personally if I was going to use them just now I would use the loose variety, until we get good work arounds for the following problems anyway http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1345724-important-bsas-and-you/

And of course gamesas will probably get around to updating the DLC BSAs and repacking them properly this time ( instead of relying on the guy they pulled off the streets after thanksgiving to pack the first ones resulting in the mess which Brumbek discovered in there http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1343691-info-detailed-anolysis-of-highres-pack-click-to-learn/ - Could have done a better job of packing the BSAs myself  ).

I got a reply, the DLC's have been re-instated to my account. For the nonce, if I need to re-load for any reason, I'll do it from local back-uo. Hopefully Steam / Bethesda will work out the issues around this particular package. I am sure that it must be giving someone a bit of a headache, looking at all of the threads with all of the issues that I see around this topic.
