How do you feel about unique weaponsarmours?

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 11:16 am

I haven't really played it enough to see anything other than the Saviours Hide and Archmage robes. Saviours hide looks bad ass until you notice it's a dress.

EXACTLY! Why is the saviour's hide so gay!? I went through a lot of effort to get it and then it svcked. But the Daedric artefacts are the same in every TES, more or less.

They got rid of Greaves, so now there's barely any customisation and only a handfull of good unique gear.

You know the most badass of badass (male) warriors wear modified dresses, right?

As for the OP's question: I sell stuff I don't use, unless it looks really good. Then I'll hang it up on a mannequin or throw it in a chest for the occasional stroll through a town.

Skyrim was terrible for unique gear. :(
Yes it is. It's a good game, but more unique weapons and armor along with longer guild quests would be the cake!

Oblivion was much better for that. I used to spend hours treasure hunting and finding things with awesome enchantments.

I usually tend to hoard them, with either the intention of using them at some point or putting them on display.
I never do.
I never ever sell them, it's my rule. They usually get dumped into the loot chest for all eternity.
I definitely hoard them. And I'll usually go out of my way to find and collect them, even if I'll never use them.

I think these sum it up for me. I'm terrible and thinking "this might come in useful" and then demonstrating that it doesn't, and I've been trying to overcome my hoarding ways and just selling stuff I know I won't use: especially useful early in most games where money is tight, no point in just sitting on it as I normally do.

I did have a nice array of unique swords in Oblivion's Waterfront Shack thanks to Decorator Assistant though, which inspired me to collect some real ones! :)

I miss Shadowrend...such a cool way to acquire a sword.

Let us make this thread a little more interesting. What is your favorite unique item from any RPG game. It HAS to be unique in appearance in comparison to the rest of the game. State the game and item! Include a PIC!! Maybe I should make my own thread for this...

-Might and Magic 7
-http://heroes.hardwired.hu/heroes6/kepek/h6beta/egyeb/homm6_0117.jpg # 3 This is from a later game in the series universe, as M&M 7 is an old game and I cannot find an image for the sword.
-desription of what it does. 2H Sword 4d5+10(dam) 20000g(value) Might +40, 6-15 points electrical damage(enchantment)

Oh, trust me, I have it bad. For example, in the Lucky 38 Presidential Suite, in my bedroom alone I had a guitar on it's own table by the desk, top hat, a few skillbooks, and golden gloves on the shelf behind the desk, 10k stacks of Pre-War money, random cigarettes, and lottery tickets in the desk, as well as Police Pistols. A chest devoted to unique/rare/modded weapons, a wardrobe for unique armours, a wardrobe for unique clothing. This is all just the left side of the bedroom, then on the right side I had a wardrobe for....something, dont recall what. A wardrobe for 5 sets of each Pre-War outfit (Clean only) and hats and suits. Then Benny's suit on display, and magazines with an ashtray and pack of cigs on the table in front of the couch. The game room was filled with all kinds of toys and kid items. The kitchen set up to look very usable.

Long story short. That floor was a monument to the glory of my obsessive compulsive tendencies :(

"Unique" equipment in most of the games I play will often have useful stats or added effects that make holding onto them worthwhile, even if there's something better for general use. For instance, the Blood Sword in Final Fantasy II, despite being weak from a stats perspective, deals damage based on an enemy's max HP. It's impractical for normal battles, but bosses tend to have much higher HP pools, making it extremely effective.

Those kinds of weapons I hold onto, but if something has no use whatsoever compared to newer, better equipment and doesn't at least look cool, I'll sell or drop it.

It has to be http://uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Rugdumph%27s_Sword! Largely for its sheer ridiculousity, but I also like the way it looks. :)

You have it bad! I think part of the reason I'm averse to moving into huge suites is the cluttering potential which would take up all my gaming time until I get fed up with it. Fortunately for me, any such tendencies are only just trumped by being too lazy to get too carried away, but it's a close-run thing...

I can't. Every playthrough, every item, it's in the exact same position, in the exact same boxes. ;-;

I actually made a separate thread for that lol. But I love that sword. The concept is hilarious. It is basically letting you take the 'edge' of any argument! Hehe

It never ceases to amaze me how many quests and items I never knew existed in Oblivion, and I have played many many hours but ignore a lot of quests. I'm more of an explorer/hunter/alchemist.
That's quite a sword.

While they are not unique items, I had an Argonian character in Morrowind who collected shoes and boots. (because he couldn't wear them of course).
He lived in a cleared Outlaw ship and all shoes were dropped in the cabin...I had quite a pile of them in there.
I'm reminded that you like to collect shoes in RL. :lmao:

The http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Fork_of_Horripilation was the most amusing name for a unique weapon to me...nothing particularly odd about the fork itself, but very memorable.
I've had games where I kept it for a while to have long drawn out battles with mud crabs.

My character also collected shoes, not very surprisingly. The Fork was wonderful, and I was always torn between leaving it as it is or modding it so that it was actually a viable weapon! It was fun making sure it was the only weapon in my inventory when the http://vometia.com/images/tes/vometia-42a.jpg was created, though. :hehe:

I like unique items, to be sure, but I find myself more attracted to lore-rare items.

Dwemer artifacts in Morrowind and Skyrim for example. I was a madman about hoarding every little artifact I could and locking them away in my house. So much the better that it was "illegal" in the game world. Not that a Dwemer Mug had any value, but damn if it didn't look good next to my 15 other Dwemer Mugs. :P

I think it's just a cheap way to add "more" weapons, at leas that's how it feels like in FoNV. Dinner bell for example was a more powerful version than a hunting shotgun (that was fully upgraded) but had 3 less shots... :/

I will collect anything, from quills and parchments to the Gobi rifle. I have chests in games with all the peasant rags and prison clothes. The more the merrier, unless you have to pay for stuff in a dlc, Mass Effect 2 I am looking at you, among others, in disgust. Armour and weapons come in dlc, not as it.

The hunt for Unique or very Rare items (randomly spawned or not) is what keeps me going half the time. Without such motivation I would get bored fairly quickly in many games. So yes, I love them...even if I don't end up actually using them.

I think Ebony Mail is the only one that fits that criteria. It's a shame that the Ebony gauntlets are a joke!
