I assumed that "set" meant cuirass, not mask. How is a mask a set of armour?

Because there's 9 of them....

Oh yeah I see my flawed logic here.

But emm, a unique set of heavy armor is.. impossible to get in skyrim, right? Because there's no unique "boots" and unique "gauntlets" as there is a unique cuirass, the ebonymail..

I know. It's a shame they didn't make a unique pair of Gauntlets and Boots to go with the Cuirass.

I think it's just a cheap way to add "more" weapons, at leas that's how it feels like in FoNV. Dinner bell for example was a more powerful version than a hunting shotgun (that was fully upgraded) but had 3 less shots... :/

Balance, I believe that's what it is called.

They added a whole new weapons for a mere change in damage. Sure, it's balanced, but it's also pointless to add a whole new weapon. Just add a weapon mod that does the same thing and let players customize their weapons looks a bit and it's a lot better. But that would require too much thinking, so it's a much easier and cheaper way to just add a unique weapons there.

Difficulty to find, part of Easter Eggs, need requirements to obtain, a unique look to its common variant and it needs to be far superior than the common variant. This is what I look for in unique weapons.
I hate how there is only one of them, what the point in being unique if there is only one!
I collect anything that has a unique name - even NPCs...Get in the cellar!
My Skyrim has a chest with about 200 items with unique names, might be more since it akes ages to add something to the box.

They add variety. I don't know as much about unique weapons in other game, but in New Vegas they don't just have a higher damage.
Comparing Dinner Bell to an unmodded Hunting Shotgun: Dinner Bell has greater damage, less spread, slightly higher crit damage and 50 less health. I'd actually say it's one of the less useful unique weapons.
Comparing the CZ57 Avenger to the unmodded Minigun: The Avenger has alightly higher damage, higher RoF, nearly half the spread, slightly higher crit damage, weighs 7 lbs less, costs 5 AP less to fire and has 200 more HP, but its magazine is half the size.

This is what I personally love about the unique weapons of New Vegas, its because they are truly unique. They aren't all equally better then their regular counter parts.

My Tenpenny suite was an absolute mess. I had one wall hidden by about 6 ceiling high stacks of cigarette cartons, I had prewar money as a bed mattress and unique weapons filling my shelves. I would also drop all my unwanted items from the balcony, needless to say it started to pile up.
I appreciate NPC responses to unique items in Skyrim. It feels good when a guard says "Get that accursed mace away from me!".

I did the same thing with collecting cigarette cartons in my first play-through and half filled the second bedroom in the Megaton shack. It was a pain in the rear trying to stack them all up so I eventually got fed up with it. On my second play-through I decided to rescue abandoned teddy-bears instead, which in theory were easier to position, except that they wriggled about somewhat when trying to do so.

To me, weapon mods would add so much more than a unique weapons. The unique weapons should actually be unique, such as the laser-pointer sun-beam thingy, that is unique in a whole different way that a small adjustment to a weapons stats.

I always wanted a unique flamer that fired torrents of carniverous bacteria, when you consider that Fallout NV already features a dog's brain built into a gun it doesn't seem so ridiculous.

That's why I love New Vegas, because it also has weapon mods which further complicate the matter of choosing a weapon. More then a few fully modded weapons in this game are good matches if not outright better then their unique counterparts. I feel that a unique weapon that has a large boost in damage has to have a negative in another area for balance and variety. To me a unique weapon that has a few stat changes and a bit of a change in appearance from the original makes sense, because it shows that someone has modified it in their own special way and you do still get the insane weapons like the Nuka Breaker and the Archimedes laser.

Survivalist's Rifle, Annabelle, Lucky, Blood Nap (even though the only thing unique about are the bonuses it provides), my soul mates. I tend to hoard them and put them up on display, only using the ones fitting my skill set.

I think this is what most of us do.

Its hard for me sell a unique item even if I can make a new game.
