Is idStudio still coming?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 6:08 pm

I would not have such a problem with the static environments if they just added more effects. Also some interactive effects were not even limited by id tech 5.

1 128 bit HDR light with eye adaption
2 Bokeu depth of field
3 Pixel perfect motion blur in both full screen and object based
4 Dynamic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volumetric_lighting effects
5 Perfect Anti-Aliasing
6 4k, 8k, 16k texture option in the menu
7 Higher resolution source art
8 Real time local reflections
9 Interactive water
10 Procedural animal system to populate the world, with eagles, and coyotes, and lizards.

Ok, for all you people who don't know how to post something interesting to the effect of how to make something better, see above.

Richard, you are repeating yourself constantly. "This game is deader than [insert "joke here"]" "Most people hate this game - WELL THAT'S BECAUSE MOST OF PEOPLE WHO DON'T CARE DON'T CARE SO MUCH THEY WON'T EVEN TALK ABOUT THIS GAME." etc etc. We are starting to see a pattern, hence I actually don't read what you posts anymore. (Apart from the capitals bit, that was hard to ignore :P There is a reason it's called emphasis i guess) I'm assuming I've already read what you have to say.

You wanna know what svck? I bought FEAR and FEAR 2 about a year ago, so they had plenty of time after release, and to this day they do not work. FEAR 1 has no sound, it starts me off before the dumpster at the very start rather than after it, so I can't actually progress through the level. FEAR 2 has no sound, and at the start I just sat there spinning around, unable to move. I looked around for days trying to figure out how to solve this problem, and when I didn't, I didn't post in every bloody thread on their forums trying to p1$$ everyone off. As stated, making a scene isn't forcing them to hurry.

I could tell from the trailers that there was going to be a scripted one way game. I was surprised by how restrictive it was with no movement even possible in many areas. With the baked in lighting and static environment and sky it is a big step back in immersion and gameplay in many ways. I was, again, surprised by how much was thrown away just to make it pretty. .

The game is stupid easy. I played over half of it on nightmare without getting killed.

id has thrown the PC game under the bus and hauled out a "newbie friendly" money maker for the kids with consoles. As Doom 4 will be "for the money" it will be similar and I will have no reason to ever play an id game again.

Then I will leave the POS alone and I won't bother the multitudes on Doom 4 forums. Rage I paid $60 for and I will continue to express my anger and disappointment at the practices and direction of what was once one of my favorite companies.

You still haven't really answered the question or added any value to your reasoning, it's just copy and paste of things you've regurgitated (and had answered) before. If you want to remain bitter and live daily flogging a game with no constructive direction or desire to fix it, knock yourself out I guess.

Well, as stated, I'm not trying to make them hurry. I'm trying to make myself feel better. Relieving my anger, y'know. And about FEAR - yeah, it's damn awful, but the fact that RAGE is not that bad doesn't mean it's good. It's still bad, just not as bad. Yeah, by comparison RAGE is normal - but I prefer to compare it to games, where customer support actually IS normal. Like, say... Serious Sam 3. That thing could run even on a dishwasher, no problems with different video cards whatsoever, the editor is out for quite some time and there are mods for it - few of them, but they exist. And it was made by a small studio in Croatia. I already compared it to Skyrim and The Witcher 2 and both of those comparisons weren't in RAGE's favor.

OK, i lied, i do read your posts :P

With the anger thing, i seriously suggest a stick and a card board box. And I'm being quite serious about that, there is little that can actually go wrong while smashing the crap out of the box with the stick (try and turn that into something dirty, go, I dare you ;p), it feels fantastic and generally you tire yourself out pretty good. It might work better when you are actually to the point where you want to hurt things... I'm not sure that a long lasting anger like this would really be solved, but it's worth a try :D

The publicity team I must admit is among the worst I've seen, especially in the age of communication... FaceBook, Twitter, this forum all are viable ways to release even small ideas with ease, but they have been used to little effect. I don't think id Software owes us anything in terms of news and updates, but when practically most gaming developers are releasing news, it would appear to be wise to follow suit. Technology leap forward in terms of the idTech 5 engine, step backwards in terms of customer support...

I wasn't really comparing RAGE to FEAR, but I can see how it would appear that I did. My point was that while I was pretty disappointed, I didn't trash talk the game, no doubt the people who did get it running loved it. And I loved the dishwasher comment, never really associated dishwashers with gaming, but I can picture it, and the point comes across quite clearly :P Wonder what Operating System a dishwasher would use...

Why? Poor box did nothing wrong to me. And besides, it's even more of bitterness, than anger.

Have you seen any evidence that there won't? We can only work on the last information we were given, which is that there will be. We were promised big news in April; it's still April. Anything else is glass-half-empty speculation.

well, that glass is empty now. april 2012 has come and gone. so april 2013 it is. or not. rather or not.

just because we are talking about dlc on a forum on a pc doesnt mean we are talking pc exclusive dlc. well except the creation kit is 99.9% likely to be pc only. but thats not really dlc is it? unless you are going by the strict definition of downloadable content, then i guess it would be, as it is additional material (also known as content) that can be downloaded. anyway if they get around to dlc im sure you guys will get something too. or not. who knows.

Lol, that was one of the most sarcastic posts I've ever seen. But written with style, nicely done.

Kinda svcks the news ain't out, but i can wait, i've been waiting 6 months, another couple of days can't hurt. I just hope that everyone else doesn't feel burned... I can imagine they will. Anyhow, I eagerly await an update, take your time to makle it right. :D

While PenGun might sound negative to you, the lack of PR is disappointing.
April is gone! Gstaff I hope you are right.

In some ways the interesting part of this whole kerfuffle is that it appears id is determined to learn nothing at all from the Rage experience. They say nothing and it appears they have discounted all the opinion that is disappointed in the game. Like Ostriches eh'.

This does not bode well for Doom 4.

A lot of us would like to see this very nice engine in a good game. Maybe open it up a bit so it can do Fallout 4 well. That would rock. More of the same from id will finish the company as a PC game producer.

Im're pretty sure since Doom4 was being developed by a totally different crew, the management and support teams are also entirely different, so all the sh1t that happened with RAGE shouldn't be a problem.

I would love for idTech5 to handle open world games, but that's easier said than done... in the sense of power it takes to run something. That is, you can expect a much lower poly count... a very noticeably lower poly count, and less particles etc, otherwise you'd require a monster computer to run the damn games, and that's okay with some people, but most are much happier not having to upgrade every time they buy a game, you know?

Lol then again, id used to make their games very customizeable in terms of graphics options, they should seriously go back to that. Without being able to tone graphics down alot from beatiful, you can expect to see not only texture pop, but also geometry pop, lol.
