IGN Says Bethesda's "Golden Reputation Is Tarnished"

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 6:02 pm

Yeah, Morrowind, Oblivion, F03, and Skyrim were all pretty low quality games.

Soooo... why are you on the forum again?

If they were all low quality, then why did you buy Skyrim if you knew it would be "low quality"?

It's about UNPLAYABLE LAGGY SLOPPY CODE. Not bugs
When you can't play because of severe LAG (PS3), or numerous problems on PC, it's not fun anymore.

Bethesda svcks.

Hopefully that'll teach them not to develop on a console platform.

Why? Just because the PS3 is having trouble, dosen't mean they should stop making TES games for consoles.

RobotMilk - Ah, I misread what you said.

So, releasing an open-world game, with more content than 90% of the games that have ever been released, ON MULTIPLE PLATFORMS, with various different options, while also having a lot of bugs=Tarnished Reputation

Not to mention how Morrowind and Oblivion had bugs that were WAY worse on release.

It happens. That's kind of the risk of doing things. Sometimes it might not work out. Weird that IGN would bother to post something so mundane. or is it.

Well it's nice to stand back and look at the big picture. But when you are affected, that's another story. I am quite happy that the media finally caught up with this, put some pressure on them, and get it fix before I clock it more then 60 hours : )

Golden Reputation. What a [censored] joke. As usual, it's just IGN spewing bull [censored] in hopes of generating traffic to their web site.

Bethesda's "reputation" would probably be more tarnished if the game worked perfectly on release.

They make epic games but Bethesda has a steadfast reputation for buggy releases with the TES and Fallout series that they've yet to break.

Isn't it really Sony's fault for not releasing a next gen console sooner? If they had more memory, this PS3 error wouldn't have been an issue... Bethesda is just optimizing for the most popular platform, so I don't blame them too much even though I'm a PC gamer who dollar-for-dollar got screwed way harder than the PS3 community. I have a $2400 rig that regularly gets 17 FPS!!! But again, I don't blame Bethesda. I blame Microsoft and Sony for dragging thier a s s e s on new console development, and pulling down PC performance with them to the lowest common denominator.

@Dude You crazy? Go over to the PC help forum. It's a nightmare just like the PS3 sub forum.

The problem with blanket statements is that they are so broad, they defy defense in a lot of cases

In this case, the PC version can hardly be called a "nightmare" when many PC players have very few issues. In regards to the forum you mention, the entire premise of the forum is PC version issues, so its not surprising to me when I see PC version problems posted there
